Real SS 396, designated right in the vin. California rust free car
with air, power steeering and power disc brakes.
EXTERIOR: Built in California, has a Z in the vin. It has one of
the cleanest bodies I've ever seen on an El Camino. From what I can
tell it's all original rust free, damage free metal. It is laser
beam straight from every angle, the body panels fit square and
flush. The doors open and close like a new car. It's smooth all
along the bottom, there are no bubbles. The metal flake is laid out
evenly, the clear coat is polished smooth and glossy. You can't
even feel the stripes. The SS package has domed hood with chrome
louvers, blacked out along the bottom and on the tailgate. The
front bumper has been rechromed, the grill is good original. The
emblems, marker lights, bowtie mirror and door handles look new.
The the mouldings around the door windows, rain gutters and all
around the top of the bed look new. In back the trim and bumper
have been replaced. The 15" rally wheels are a couple inches wider
in back. They have all new trim. The Good Year tires look close to
new.
INTERIOR: Inside is very clean and unabused. It has the factory
gauge cluster with a tachometer in the middle. The carpet looks
new. Seat was reupholstered and door panels replaced. Dash area is
very nice- dash pad, heater controls, knobs, vents are nice. It has
a retro stereo with 6x9 speakers in back. The headliner, visors and
mirror look good. Dome light works.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: A&F rebuilt engine, their tag is riveted to
the motor. It is a period correct 402 with factory Holley intake
and new Holley carb. It also has a set of headers. It features
factory air conditioning, some parts were replaced and still have
stickers on them. It has power brakes and correct power steering
with remote reservoir. Everything looks proper- squirters are
hooked up, new horns, new hood insulation, has proper shroud, cowl
vent screens etc. The metal is smooth and painted satin black.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the bed has no rust, only a few minor
little dents. Repainted glossy. The tailgate functions smoothly.
The bottom of the tailgate is dry with no rust. There is a car
cover included.
UNDERSIDE: It is exceptionally clean underneath this car. The front
end looks like it has been completely rebuilt including tie rod
ends, ball joints, bushings, shocks etc. It has the F-41 suspension
which includes sway bars and boxed control arms. In back the shocks
were replaced. Looking up at the motor it's spotless, you can see
fresh freeze plugs, fuel pump and starter. The Turbo 400 automatic
also looks clean. It has a chrome oil pan. A 12 bolt rear end sits
in back. All new disc brake components in front, the e-brake cables
are hooked up. The dual exhaust system has a crossover pipe and
Flowmaster mufflers. In my opinion this has the driest, cleanest
metal you'll see. Every factory spot weld and seam are clean. All
the metal is smooth. The lower quarters and inner rockers are
spotless, the drain holes are mint.
