Vehicle Description
TRUCK STORED IN MASSACHUSETTS. When is a truck more than just a
truck? It's a question that can be answered with a resounding cheer
when it's one that has been as thoughtfully customized as the 1957
Chevrolet presented here by Zoom Classic Cars. Embracing the
classic design elements of the Chevrolet Task Force Series of
trucks running from 1955 through 1959, there's nothing finer than
watching the road unfold before you as you gaze through the
signature wrap-around windshield which was a truck-industry first
when it was first unveiled. You know the truck is exceptionally
received when the Editors of Classic Trucks Magazine honor it with
a full length feature across the pages of its October 2019
Issue. The journey of creating such a special hauler started with
the journey of locating a nice rust-free example to start with. It
just so happened that the owner sourced a nicely restored original
to serve as the base for creating this very special version. To get
started on the rebuild, once the original chassis was disassembled
the frame was blasted clean and boxed for added strength while also
incorporating a C-notch out back. Wanting to add cutting-edge
handling as well as a perfect stance, Progressive Automotive
supplied parts to adapt Corvette C4 suspension parts to the frame.
Out back a refreshed Corvette C4 IRS was installed utilizing a
custom crossmember by Hot Rod Services (HRS) of Hull,
Massachusetts, along with brackets from Progressive accented by an
HRS antiroll bar and RideTech 'bags. Up front it's all business
thanks to a Progressive 1-piece crossmember and brackets mounting a
restored Corvette C4 IFS along with a custom antiroll bar from HRS
and RideTech air bags. When it's time to stop, a Corvette dual
master was matched to a Hydratech hydraulic brake booster moving
fluid though stainless lines to Corvette C4 12-inch vented rotors,
4-piston calipers at each corner. Adding just the right amount of
style, Foose Nitrous-model wheels sized 18x8 front and 20x10 rear
wear rubber from Nitto. If you're upping the ante with increased
handling you'd better bring plenty of power to the party as well.
To add a heavy dose of horsepower to the mix, Reid's Automotive in
Whitman assembled a 355ci Chevy small-block V-8. A 1968 block was
massaged and filled with a Scat forged steel crank linked to
matching H-beam rods wearing Sealed Power hypereutectic pistons
getting bumped a COMP Cams roller cam. Air Flow Research Eliminator
aluminum heads make plenty of power especially when matched to a
Mooneyes cross-ram intake. The knockout punch was delivered by
Kinsler Fuel Injection who built the unique Crossram injection
system utilizing custom throttle bodies, Holley 42lb injectors and
a Holley HP EFI management system. It sparks to life thanks to MSD
and dumps its gasses through Sanderson block-hugger headers to a
3-inch steel exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. A TH400 trans from
Triangle Transmission moves the goods to a custom driveshaft by
HRS.Thankfully the truck possessed nice sheetmetal having undergone
a recent restoration. Wanting to inject a little personal design,
the factory grill opening was updated with a set of '58 Corvette
teeth to set it apart from the rest. A Matt Hotch flush-fit gas cap
was fitted along with flipping the rear bumper. The truck was then
metal-finished while also setting all the gaps to perfection. A
custom-blended Sherwin Williams Rocket Fire Red was then mixed to
add right amount of allure and laid down by the masters at
Perfection Auto Repair in Quincy, bringing it all to life.Inside,
the stock dash was filled with a Classic Instruments gauge set to
monitor the vitals while a restored factory wheel mounted to the
original column helps navigate the course. Shifts click through a
unit from Lokar with cool breezes compliments of Vintage Air while
tunes roar through a Clarion head unit to Rockford Fosgate amps and
German Maestro speakers. The factory bench was recovered with fresh
red and white vinyl by HRS who also added the black loop carpet.
The team at Green Mountain Gear-Heads in Williston, Vermont,
wrapped it all up with the installation of the American Autowire
kit and fine tuning to get everything dialed in. This is a truly
unique 1957 Chevy truck that turns heads cruising down the street
and commands plenty of attention wherever it goes. Don't miss out

personality, separating it from the rest! Call Jeff for the
