As a lover of Oldsmobiles, I am always on the lookout for a nice car. I love the big cars with big powerful motors. Due to the possibility of driving a car to Florida for a friend, I was searching for Florida cars when I stumbled upon this beauty. My plan to drive down didn’t play out, but the man who sold it to me needed to come to WI and he offered to drive it to me. His confidence in his car mirrors mine. This car is ready to be driven anywhere you wish.
It was sold new in Houston, TX at Sam White Oldsmobile. It has not been modified and presents itself very well. It has never been rusty and does not require any mechanical or cosmetic repair.
The flagship of the Oldsmobile marque is the Ninety Eight. This car is very well equipped and luxurious. The black velour upholstery is like sitting in your favorite recliner. Both front seats are power adjustable. The Tempmatic climate control will keep you comfortable on hot days due to the Air Conditioning system being converted to 134a Freon. The heater does not blow hot air. There is a 12 volt heater that is a substitute.
This car has full power options including steering and brakes, locks and windows, antenna and trunk release and the afore mentioned seats. It has inside remote control for the outside mirrors. The original AM/FM stereo plays perfectly as does the underdash Oldsmobile 8-track tape player.
If you like the feel of a big cruiser and enjoy the feeling of driving a powerful car, how can you beat this? The big 403 Olds runs like a champ. Of course the transmission is automatic. The rear axle gearing is 2.41 to 1, which is excellent for highway cruising. You have Cruise Control to keep your speed as desired. I will say that the ride from Florida to WI was mostly on the highway with the Cruise set at 80mph.
There are a few additional creature comforts like the Litter Container, the Light Group and the Convenience Group. The appearance is enhanced with chrome molding, door edge guards and accent stripes. All these options and features are displayed on the facsimile of the original window sticker.
Radial tires would be a deviation from the way the car was originally equipped. The tires are five years old.
The condition of the body and paint is good. I would call this a high quality driver. There may be a few blemishes, but nothing unsightly. You would be proud to display this car at any local show or cruise night.
More importantly, you should feel confident that this car is a very capable driver. It has proven itself recently, yet has just eclipsed the 100,000 mile mark. In fact, that happened on the trip here from Florida.
I love my Oldsmobiles. This is a car that I would enjoy taking out for an evening on the town. It won’t get me in trouble and is just a joy to drive. I look forward to showing it to you. I am confident that you will be impressed.
