Rolls-Royce revived the iconic Phantom name in 2003, marking the
seventh time in the company's illustrious history that it graced
their flagship offering. Upon debut, the all-new Phantom was
offered only as a four-door saloon, with bold styling that was
unmistakable as a Rolls-Royce, while simultaneously fresh and
modern. The Phantom was the first Rolls developed from the
ground-up under the guidance of parent company BMW and was the most
technologically advanced Rolls-Royce to date. It required the
skilled craftspeople at the new Goodwood assembly plant a minimum
of 260 hours to build each car - compared to about 25 hours for the
average mass-produced vehicle. In 2007, Rolls-Royce introduced a
follow-up to the saloon with the new two-door Phantom Drophead
Coupe. The new four-passenger Drophead took inspiration from the
striking 100EX concept car, featuring bold and dramatic styling,
including its smoother front-end styling and distinctive
rear-hinged doors. The fabric soft-top was a nod to tradition, with
the practical function of affording a roomier boot than a bulky
folding hardtop. Of course, Rolls-Royce ensured the Phantom
Drophead had the performance to suit its presence. The turbocharged
6.8-litre V12 makes 454 horsepower and a veritable ocean of torque,
moving the 5,776-pound Drophead along with startling efficiency.
With a base price of over $400,000, it was produced in limited
numbers from 2009 through the 2012 model year. Finished in a
striking combination of black over burgundy leather and equipped
with desirable options, this 2009 Phantom Drophead Coupe is an
outstanding example with just over 13,000 miles from new. It is
offered with a clean Carfax report showing regular service in the
previous owners' hands. The black paintwork is exquisitely finished
and consistent with this car's exceptionally low mileage. Optional
fittings include the brushed stainless-steel bonnet and A-pillar
treatment, along with the teak "decking" along the convertible top
boot and rear bulkhead area. It rides on 21-inch chrome-finish
chrome wheels, shod with high-performance Goodyear NCT tires in
excellent order. The cabin is swathed in lovely merlot-colored
leather with complementing wool carpeting. The leather is supple
and in excellent condition front and rear, and gorgeous, extensive
woodwork is superbly finished. Beautifully machined chrome
switchgear and controls provide an old-world feel to modern
technology, of which there's no shortage - with equipment including
built-in satellite navigation, high-end audio, reversing camera,
heated seats, and much more. Virtually every moving function is
power operated or assisted, including the rear-hinged doors, which
close at the push of a button on the dash. The sale includes the
factory tool kit, first aid kit, books, and built-in umbrellas. Few
modern automobiles make as bold a statement as the Phantom Drophead
Coupe. This superb example has averaged fewer than a thousand miles
per year and is beautifully presented, ready for its next caretaker
to enjoy the most exquisite top-down motoring experience of the
past decade. Offers welcome and trades considered For additional
