For Sale: 1958 Chevrolet Impala in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

In early 2020, after 62 years of being an integral part of Chevrolet's passenger car dominance, the legendary Impala once again rolled into GM history. While the marque's reinstated hiatus was an understandable result of ever-changing consumer taste, it was still a sad milestone for Chevy fans of all ages. And when one takes a close look at this awesome first-year coupe, it becomes perfectly clear why the Impala, despite its broadened definition, STILL enjoys such a loyal following. Steadfast, distinguished and great to look at, this solid hunk of Detroit steel carries the trademark combination of handsome looks and rugged versatility that's built Chevrolet into one of the largest and most respected brands in the world. And when you add those attributes to a professionally rebuilt big block, a retrofitted Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and an exquisite restoration, you get one incredible cruiser! If you're in the market for a tailored classic that wraps limitless appeal in exoteric style, welcome to the large and diverse family called Impala!

AN EVEN BETTER BEL AIR

Rebuilt, resilient and ready to roll, this top-of-the-line coupe displays immaculate bodywork that simply glistens under correct Onyx Black two-stage. The car's ground-up, nut-and-bolt restoration, completed in late 2020, began with a full strip of a solid Wyoming body that, still in the possession of its original owner, had been stored for roughly 35 years. And, in typical '50s fashion, that profile was eventually decked in literal feet of polished trim. At the front of this sleek showboat, a broad stainless grille frames jet-inspired parking lamps between a new bumper, an ornate Chevrolet crest and hooded T3 headlights. At the top of that grille, subtle fender toppers lead the eye to a fresh greenhouse, which is sealed in straight frames, cleared by bright wipers and reflected in awesome forward-mount accessory mirrors. At the sides of that glass, rocket-inspired speed spears cage bold Impala emblems amid contrasting louvers and textured rocker guards. Opposite those spears, correct door handles perfectly complement smooth skirts and angled antennas. And at the back of the car, a second new bumper bends around a Chevrolet-branded trunk and six familiar taillights.

TURBO THRUST POWER!

Lift this classic's massive hood and you'll find 348 cubic inches of 1958 big block that's been professionally rebuilt by the pros at Winston-Salem, North Carolina's Clemmons Speed Shop. Torque meets the pavement through a retrofitted Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed automatic, which spins a factory rear end that's finished with a posi-traction differential and fun, 3.36 gears. The car's fresh floors, the only sheetmetal replaced during its detailed restoration, shade a fully rebuilt suspension. Exhaust flows from cast iron manifolds to coated pipes and coated turbo mufflers. And all that fully sorted hardware rides painted steel wheels, which spin 8.00R14 American Classic whitewalls around stylish spinner hub caps.

THE PLACE TO BE

Decked in brilliant detail, this Chevy's correct Gray, Black and Turquoise interior has been restored to factory-fresh condition in virtually every way. Cloth and vinyl seats feel newer than the car's 62 years would suggest. In front of those thrones, a sculpted dash is dressed in the usual combination of telemetry and trim. And the driver spins an elegant Impala steering wheel.

This freshly restored first-year Impala is a first class full-size that's as vibrant as it is timeless. Simply put, there just isn't much 1950s metal that's nicer or cooler than this line-topping Chevy. And when you add the car's choice aesthetics and improved drivetrain, you're looking at what might be the ultimate American cruiser!
