Vehicle Description
It's time to dive deeper into this 1983 Porsche 944, because beyond
the bright red paint is LT1 V8 power. Yes, you read that correctly,
this slick Porsche has a fuel-injected small block heart!
The wedge shape and chiseled bodylines of the 944 have aged well,
and thanks to Porsche's attention to detail, it still looks quite
striking. Of course, part of this attraction has to do with the
bold paint. This was born a desirable Guards Red coupe, and a good
respray later in life means it retains an attractive shine. Not
only do the body panels look nice, but also you can tell this is a
well-maintained car by the way the black bumpers, trim, and
well-integrated spoiler look against the vivid red. It's all part
of the factory's handsome packaging. So the only real ways you can
tell about the upgraded heart are the subtle decals on the fenders
and the upgraded to Porsche Cup II-style 17-inch wheels.
The interior is well-done mix of loaded Porsche and the right
upgrades. It starts with good factory features, like power windows,
power steering, and the large removable sunroof that's a hallmark
of the 944. There's even an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with remote.
And while this is all comfortable, the real focus of the interior
is on performance. You have Corbeau racing seats, RCI four-point
racing harness, and a Brey Krause four-point harness bar. The
steering wheel is now a grippy Momo unit. It gives you a clear view
to the white-faced gauge package, and there are additional handy
SunPro readouts to the side.
As much as you've seen some nice custom upgrades so far, the best
one is reserved for the engine bay. That's a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 in
place of the original four-cylinder. So the small block motor
delivers the same fuel-injected constancy Porsche offered, but now
with a healthy upgrade in performance. This even has roller
rockers, aluminum heads, and custom headers. This is a well-done
installation that includes a BBK strut tower brace. The five-speed
manual transmission gives you complete control to harness the
upgrade in power. We love this kind of V8 upgrade, because it also
still delivers Porsche's superior suspension design with a
transaxle for good weight distribution. Plus, the fully independent
suspension, four-wheel power disc brakes (with upgraded Wilwoods up
front,) and grippy Yokohama sport tires make this a truly awesome
driving machine.
The sale comes complete with come nice extras, like a car covers as
well as a condenser and compressor if you want to add A/C. This is
a custom car wrapped in a precision German body. So if you love a
sleek Porsche with serious power added, call today!
