Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Impala SS -427ci V8 -425 Horsepower -Automatic
Transmission -42k Miles -Accuair Air Ride Suspension -Blue Metallic
Over White Interior Here is a rare one. This is a true 1969
Chevrolet Impala SS L72 427ci/425hp Custom Coupe. It is the rarest
Impala ever produced. Chevrolet only made 2,455 SS Impalas in 1969
and of those cars only 546 received the L72 motor. However, most
were Sport Coupes, not Custom Coupes with the vinyl top. This car
is so scarce, you can't even find it on Hagerty, the biggest
classic car insurance company in the world. Please educate us if
you find another one like it for sale because we can't find any.
Luckily for this car, we have documentation to prove its
authenticity. In April of 1969, one Carroll Renfro purchased this
car through Edde Chevrolet of Rutledge Tennessee. It was ordered
with the following options: 1969 Impala SS Custom Coupe,
427ci/450hp L72 Engine, Medium Blue (LeMans Blue) paint and black
vinyl top, Parchment (Pearl White) interior, TH400 Turbo Hydromatic
transmission, 3.73:1 Posi-Traction rear end, AC delete, Power
Steering, Power Brakes. This information comes from a signed and
notarized affidavit from the owner of the Chevrolet dealership that
sold the car brand new. We also have a copy of the original MSO
that states this vehicle was a sold as a 427/425 car. When the car
was found before its restoration, it had the original single 3/8
fuel line on the car. Only 427/425 cars had a single 3/8 fuel line.
A meticulous Impala fanatic then performed a frame off restoration
right back to factory specifications. Unfortunately the original
engine for this car was lost prior to restoration. The restorer was
fortunate enough to locate a stamped 1969 L72 Counter Exchange
(CE), which is still acceptable by judging standards. This car was
fully restored in 2004 and was featured in the October 2011
Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine with a three-page spread. As
already stated, the article focuses on how almost all 427's came
with 390hp ratings but this one boosted 425hp with 11.0:1
compression, solid lifters, forged crankshaft, aluminum intake and
a 780-CFM Holley 4bbl carb. Due to its unicorn-like status, our
client found the car for sale a couple years later and had to have
it. He then took it from car show winner and made it concours,
while adding some flare of his own. The big one being the expensive
Ridetech Suspension/Airbags with the AccuAir Dual Compressors and
control module (see video). He also added a 2600 Stall Converter
and 3-inch wrapped stainless side exhaust with Flowmasters. All
original components were saved and can be bolted on as a new owner
sees fit. This Impala is the quintessential head turner. It has
been babied with no expense spared in service. It just had a fresh
Brad Penn oil change. It has always been garage kept and mainly
trailed on the open road. It fires on command and has an awesome
soundtrack. Be sure to watch the video and check out over 175
