Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
I guess I must be dumb
'Cause you had a pocket full of horses
Trojan and some of them used
But it was Saturday night
I guess that makes it all right
And you say, "what have I got to lose?"
And honey, I say
Little red Corvette
Baby, you're much too fast, oh
Little red Corvette
You need a love that's gonna last...
1969 Corvette Stingray...check! 427ci Edelbrock tunnel ram...check!
Dual Holley 600's...check! Side pipes....check! Excellent
Fiberglass....check! Hand Stitched Leather Seats.....check! Now
it's time to CHECK! this car out! This fine example has had only 1
owner since new! Over 200 trophies, and definitely one of a kind in
looks and performance, right here for the checking out in the
hallowed halls of Classic Auto Mall. The dinner bell is ringing for
someone..
Exterior
Our consigner took his original purchase and bumped it up a bit,
well...maybe more I'd say with starting out by cutting a hole in
the hood, then making sure all surfaces of the original fiberglass
were cared for and any potential blemishes and holes etc removed
and filled in with fiberglass. It was then bathed in red that just
bleeds of beauty. Miles deep shine and perfectly aligned curves
come together to form what this writer thinks is the nicest
Corvette model ever made! All that red is made even better with
shiny chrome bumpers and grille surrounds in front, some vertical
"gills" for the front quarters, and of course those snarling side
pipes which run the gamut of the rockers. Stainless edges a new
windshield and the T top framing which presents perfectly with its
shine and rubber surrounds, with red panels that fit like gloves.
These float above flying buttress style B pillars which have a
vertical rear glass inserted, and these buttresses make their way
gracefully descending to the rear deck. At the very rear of this
car, a slight upward reaching "wave' forms a slight spoiler if you
will, and then drops vertically to the ground and houses the round
taillights and "eyebrow" style rear shiny bumpers. The stance this
car gives you is to die for, as is the total shine of all
immaculate surfaces on the exterior of this car. Also, not to be
left out are the uber chromed and polished Cragar SS wheels wrapped
in raised white letter rubber all around. In the dictionary under
the word shine, is this car's picture!
Interior
A swing of the doors and shake hands with some smooth and perfectly
fitted dark gray leather door panels with a small ribbed broadcloth
insert for some padding to comfort the arms. Simple but effective
high back leather buckets in gray, with tuck and roll inserts and
smooth bolsters and a nice headrest on top, are the two seats
available. Racing up the middle is the console in gray, housing the
handbrake, power window toggles, some small warning lights, the
chromed T style Hurst shifter, and climate control wheels and fan
toggle. Moving upward still in the center is the original radio
(AM/FM), a cluster of 5 important gauges and on top why windshield
wiper switch. In front of the driver are dual deep set circular
analog gauges just as clean as a whistle. Fronting this near
perfect dash is an original steering wheel. All this interior
floats in a calm sea of black carpeting that is available for your
toes to wiggle onto when you flip in in your bare feet. Also the
rear storage is lined with perfect carpeting.
Drivetrain
Hold your breath when popping the hood because it will be soon
taken away otherwise, with this stunning all chromed engine sitting
in a jet black shiny surrounding engine bay. Every surface shines
brightly, and if you are interested it is a 427ci V8 which is noted
as a warranty replacement block from 1969-1970 according to its
numbers. On top is a polished Edelbrock tunnel ram with dual Holley
600cfm 4-barrel carbs. In back is a numbers matching Muncie M21
4-speed manual transmission which pushes power to the back axle
seen in 4.11 posi configuration. This engine bay is a study in
detail and attention to it which is what we can call mint
condition.
Undercarriage
Not to be outdone by the top side, the bottom end of this car is
showroom. A custom airbrushed tire cover is on the bottom just
below a new fuel tank. All beautifully painted black suspension and
structural metal, dances with chromed suspension and other parts
peppering the underside. Polished headers and piping sales its way
to either side where they blend together and make the side pipes
and eventual sound the is music to the "autophile's" (sic) ears.
Power disc brakes are all around now, and fiberglass leaf spring
suspension is seen for some weight loss..(to make up for all the
weight the chroming process has added!)
Drive-Ability
A quick start with a monstrous roar, and we are off to the test
track. Here all I can say is everything is working just
wonderfully, and it is a goer as well as a shower!
A great work of automotive art creating the final sculpture of a
1969 Corvette Stingray. All excellent surfaces and finishes, no
stone left unturned, one of the finest examples of this model year
you'll run into, but it won't last long because it's wicked
fast!
