The newly restyled Impala for '65 is a car that GM advertised as a
car that pampers passengers and driver, and as a car with a
beautiful new shape. This Impala which is finished in Evening
Orchid is a restored example which could pamper occupants and
deliver a surprise punch thanks to a 400ci V8 under the hood. The
elegant looks and docile color could fool a number of people! It's
highly likely that this car's first owner was a woman who liked the
styling and the color of this Impala SS. Maybe a spouse, or friend
convinced her to go with the sportier SS package as well. We can
make assumptions all day long, but what we do know is that this is
a car that is in great condition now. The car has been restored in
the original color, not changed to something a little sportier or
flashier. In our eyes that makes this car really special. The color
that we are speaking of is called Evening Orchid - such an elegant,
fancy name which fit right in with the other subdued colors offered
by Chevrolet in '65. This car has no interruptions to the
coke-bottle lines, just smooth body lines thanks to body panels
that fit just as they should. Chrome bumpers, trim, lights, and
even the 327 badging are all there and in great condition. Once
seated in the car the comfortable interior is tidy, and has a
number of desirable details. Obviously attention to detail was
important during the restoration of the interior. Bucket seats,
console, SS badging on the door panels, sweeping speedometer,
Impala 2 spoke steering wheel with chrome horn ring, retracting
front seat belts, clock, factory tach, and three pedals to go with
the 4 speed manual transmission. It left the Arlington Texas
assembly plant with a 327ci V8 under the hood, but thanks to a few
changes during the restoration process, a 400ci V8 found its way
into the engine bay. Finished in orange as it would've been from
the factory and badged as a 327, the 400 pumps out more power than
the 327 and makes a great sound. Putting the pedal down and taking
the car through the gears is something that will leave you
grinning. Don't let the color, or the docile looks fool you, this
Impala SS is ready to lay down some rubber. The SS trim, two door
coupe configuration, 400ci V8 mated to a 4 speed, and having gone
through a full restoration are all great points on this special
car. Make room in your collection for this elegant sports car. Be
