For Sale: 1980 MG MGB in Niantic, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1980 MG-B Roadster

Purchased roughly 4 years ago this car was refurbished as a rolling restoration. The couple purchased a second parts car and added in the better parts from the other car. The car was originally brown however, was painted red when they bought the car, they decided to paint her silver. The car is (and was) very solid with no rot and ran pretty well. Most of the interior was swapped in from the parts car and dyed black. New carpets were installed along with a TWM intake and Weber down draft carburetor on the 1800 4 cylinder. A 2 into 1 header was installed along with a free flow exhaust and an Ansi-like exhaust dual tip. All that "power" runs out through a three speed manual transmission.

Neither car had a good soft top, so the only top is the factory hard top, and unfortunately as they were getting close to finishing her off, the husband passed away a couple of years ago. The little B has been sitting since.

On the 30 degree day, it took a little coaxing to get her started but with some new gas and a little Lucas additive, she fired up and eventually smoothed out.

This car runs and drives but she will need some tuning. Lots of little things are needed to finish her off... like the bonnet latch, firmly securing the choke cable, trim rings and center caps, adjusting alignments on the boot lid, the doors and hard top; dash pad, electrical work, fix exhaust leaks... She will need a soft top and some detailing under the bonnet.

The headlights work but no other lights do. The oil pressure gauge works and shows a very strong 70psi on start up that drops down to a respectable 50psi at warm idle. The speedometer works intermittently but no other gauges currently operate correctly. The heater fan does not work but the under hood electric fan for the radiator does work.

All the heavy lifting is done on her, so if you like to tinker and want to bring this very solid silver B up a notch or two, this is the car for you.
Parts for these abound both brand new and used and are not expensive. These cars are not expensive either unless, absolutely pristine low mileage, single owner cars.

This one shows just less 33,000 on the odometer and with the overall condition of the floors, sills, castle rails, etc, I'd say that may be actual mileage.

With all the above the asking price is $3300.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for the interest.
