1954 AUSTIN A40 PANEL VAN CUSTOM T-1315 A number of different automobiles were marketed under the Austin A40 name by Austin between 1947 and 1967. This particular Austin is a customized panel van from 1954 that has an American Buick V6 sitting under the hood. The exterior is finished in a bright Red paint job with hand painted British Express artwork on either side. A combination of gray and black comprise the custom interior of cloth and vinyl. This Austin van is now a very rare sight with not many left on our roads. This particular van was restored about 10 year ago and has been cherished by its previous owner and no expense has been spared. American driveline and running gear components. It has a Buick V6 engine topped with an Edelbrock Carburetor, Offenhauser Valve Covers, a Hilborn Style Single Scoop Air Cleaner and an Electric Fan. This powerplant is mated to a floor shifted automatic transmission. Some interior features include VDO Gauges wrapped in a billet aluminum cluster with fuel, temp, oil pressure, and voltage. Additionally, this Austin also has Power Steering, Tilt Column, Power Windows, Cruise Control, and AM/FM/Cassette Player. The upholstery is in great condition and the cargo area with access via the rear barn doors is unmarked and like new. The Austin starts by turning the key on the steering column ignition and drives well with a strong engine and smooth gearbox. Without a doubt a very popular van of its era with many bought to work hard and consequently worked to death. With this in mind, examples like this are now difficult to acquire.
