For Sale: 1972 McLaren F1 in newport beach, California

Vehicle Description

1972 McLaren M8F Can-Am race car, S/N M8F 5-72, McLaren Orange “Denny Hulme” tribute livery.  8 liter aluminum Chevy V-8 with Kinsler fuel injection, Hewland LG500 gearbox.  Constructed by Trojan, 1 of only 9 client cars.  2018 engine service and dyno by Ed Pink Racing Engines, dyno’d at 702HP @ 6,500 rpm.  The last of the great McLaren M8 cars.  Originally campaigned in the ’72 & ’73 Can-Am race series by Warren Agor (white and red livery in ’72).  Agor raced against greats like Donohue, Haywood, Bell, Scheckter and Andretti.  While he never reached the podium, he never wrecked either.  Restored in the early 90’s and driven by Hulme in October 1992 at the Elkhart Lake Chicago Historic Races, chronicled in a great Peter Egan Road & Track article.  Comes with original SCCA log book, races logged from ’72 to ’75 and tracks include Laguna Seca, Riverside, Elkhart Lake, Mosport, Watkins Glen, Sears Point and more.  A lot of records, photos and video.  The M8F fires up with a thundering roar and scares neighbors for blocks.  It comes to us from a great collection in AZ that is shifting focus from track cars to road cars and it presents a rare and special opportunity for someone to continue the great history of this important McLaren racing car.
