GarageKeptMotors.) 1978 Ford Bronco Takes the SUV Out of the Dark
Ages €"Car and Driver, January 1978 As part of its publicity
run-up to the 2021 launch of the New Bronco, Ford Motor Company
recently launched a Bronco-history site online. That resource
explained: Following its successful debut, Bronco sales reached
record levels after the launch of the 2ndgeneration Bronco in 1978.
The first two years of the larger and more luxurious Bronco were
some of the most popular in the 30-year production run. Bronco
shifted to a larger platform and body-style, sharing components
with the F-Series truck while maintaining key off-road capabilities
including maneuverability, and approach, departure, and break-over
angles. The truck's two-tone tan-over-brown exterior paint was
refinished during its recent restoration and looks factory-fresh,
glossy and uniform across every original body panel. Similarly,
chrome trim-including the grille, bumpers, mirrors, door handles,
and body trim-is excellent. Factory-installed aluminum wheels are
mounted with BFGoodrich Land Terrain white-letter tires. A
Bronco-logo tan vinyl tire cover is present on the spare tire
mounted on its swing-away rear carrier. Headlight, marker-light,
directional signal light, and taillight lenses are all clear and
un-cracked. Fiberglass rear-cargo-area roof is finished in brown.
Inside, restored upholstery in brown and tan covering the front
bucket seats and the fold-down rear bench seat is without flaw.
Brown door trim has also been re-done. Brown carpets cover the
floors, including the entire rear cargo area, all of it not faded
or worn. The drop-down tailgate is also carpeted. The tan fabric
headliner is properly fitted and clean, as are the sun visors. Twin
aftermarket pop-up sunroofs are properly fitted. The dashboard is
complete and all factory instrumentation and controls-including
heating and air-conditioning controls-are present and operational.
A factory pushbutton AM radio is mounted. The steering wheel is
stock, with a column-mounted automatic-transmission shifter. The
four-wheel-drive transfer case lever is floor-mounted; manual
lock-out hubs are installed on the truck's front axle. Under the
hood, the new 400 V8 engine is spotless. New components-including
air-conditioning-are present and properly installed throughout in a
well-detailed engine compartment. The truck's undercarriage is
flawless, and shows absolutely no rust. The custom exhaust headers
and dual-exhaust system are nicely showcased from below. We expect
and invite in-person inspection of this fully restored '78 Ford
Bronco at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. We ask only that you
call or email us for an appointment in advance so that we can
devote our full attention to you during your visit. Meanwhile, the
more than 180 high-definition photographs of the car and the short
walk-around-and-startup video on the GarageKeptMotors site

email with any questions. Ready to turn back the clock to 1978 and
enjoy the stylish, comfortable, 4-wheel-drive utility of a period
Bronco restored to perfection? Look no further.
