1987 Chevrolet Suburban Silverado
You may know that the Silverado is one of the most popular Chevy
trucks for sale right now, but you might not know that the truck
shares its name with a trim level that was used on a previous model
truck that was introduced in 1975. The Chevy C/K and the GMC
Suburban both offered a Silverado trim before the name was
transferred to the new truck that would take the place of the CK.

trivia, they actually help you gain a more complete understanding
of the history of the Chevy Silverado, which can help you

It is not a shabby grocery getter either. Anyone can hop into the
ubiquitous SUV these days, but a classic Suburban in Silverado
trim? Now you are arriving in style!
Exterior
What has 4 headlights, 4 doors, 4-wheel drive and 3 rows of seats?
Well our consignment that's what! Bathed in two tone Charcoal
Metallic with Red side panels, shiny trimmings, tinted windows
black glass surrounds and a long back for that 3rd tow and room for
all the goods, you could start your own shuttle business back and
forth to the airport. Just above the rockers is a wide aluminum
trimming separating the red from the charcoal, and it wraps around
the entire truck. 4 doors for the passengers and driver, but also 2
more open wide on back, for that cargo area and full access.
Bumpers are shiny although the rear has plenty of stickers on it.
15-inch GM deep dish wheels are on all 4 corners. Some invasive
rust is noted behind wheel wells and around rocker areas.
Interior
Pile 'em in with 3 benches to choose from, all wrapped in some tuck
and roll broadcloth and gray vinyl sides, and all looking good. An
80/20 second row allows easy access to the rear 3rd row bench which
sports big armrests and ashtrays (smoke 'em if ya got 'em!). Gray
carpeting floods the floors, and in front the original dash setup
and steering wheel in 50 shades of gray and metal applique are
seen. A big and tight light gray headliner is noted as is all
nicely preserved door panels with their tinted glass. Room for
9!
Drivetrain
An unrestored engine and bay sits under the hood. 350ci's for the
V8 fed by EFI (TBI Injection) and backed up by a 4-speed 700 R4
automatic. A 10-bolt rear is on back.
Undercarriage
Some heavy surface rust on a few suspects but still solid save for
the rocker areas where the invasive rust has taken over on those
exterior rockers and wheel well bottoms. Leaf spring suspension is
all around, and power disc brakes are on front, as power drums
grace the rears.
Drive-Ability
Turn the key and she's off to the test track. All 9 of us from
Classic Auto Mall as we wanted to see if it could take it, and it
handled it swimmingly. Don't tell the owner though, it could be
construed as goofing off, and it probably would be true. But I
digress, and it ran great, handled well, and all of us were
comfortable for the most part. The radio is disconnected so we had
to listen to all the nonsense emanating from the back rows!
Some rust, some patina, some kind of hauler for the kids and all
their stuff, all from 1987 in Silverado luxurious trim, and plenty
of room to boot.
