We are pleased to present this rare 1958 Studebaker Commander 2 dr.
Hard top is a 1 year only model with the wonderful "art deco" big
fins style of the era. Mechanically brilliant performance from a
supercharged 289 V8, about the only car faster was a Chrysler 300
letter series. This one has beautiful bright chrome, clear new
glass, RV mirrors and age appropriate patina inside and out. Green
Studebaker logo front seat belts added and the brakes are new
Turner disk brakes with much safer dual system master cylinder.
(original drum brakes come with the car in as removed condition) To
safely use radial tires, the wheels are modern 15-inch smoothie
rims with period correct "baby moon" hubcaps. (the original rare
one year only 14 inch rims and genuine hubcaps come with the car,
NOT recommended for street use) The v8 is fresh from full overhaul,
with accessories from Jon Myers (Mr. Avanti) Myers Studebaker in
Ohio and has just had Mike Myers complete the 1000 mile check up
with oil change, torque the head bolts, and adjust valves.
Overhaulin' Transmissions of Savannah rebuilt the (Fordomatic
clone) transmission. One wire 12volt neg. ground (original
generator comes with the car) and new (not rebuilt) electronic
ignition installed for reliable Studebaker Drivers Club cruising.
modern aftermarket illuminated gauges installed with tachometer
added. Brand new multi-function radio installed in the original
dash opening for your enjoyment. New gas shocks help the ride and
handling, and a proper extra blade fan and recored radiator keep
things cool. . Maintenance is all up to date. This car is scheduled
for "Vintage Air" upgrade, and that can be done at the new owners
discretion. Cannot be duplicated for 2x the price. Own some classic
