For Sale: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This frame off restored Camaro SS convertible is #s matching throughout and it is also documented with original cowl tag and protect-o-plate. Claimed to have 66,000 actual miles and it is believable.

EXTERIOR: Restored close to new condition. The body presents itself really well. It is straight, the body panels fit real nicely. It's even smooth all along the bottoms with no signs of rust or damage. Repainted it's original butternut yellow color and it is polished to a glass finish, you don't even feel the SS stripe. It looks like the chrome trim has been replaced. Up front the grill, marker lights, bumper look new. The emblems, door handles, mirror, hood grills have been replaced. In back the bumper, taillights and SS gas cap were replaced. The stainless steel mouldings around the top and windshield were replaced. Upgraded with 15 inch rally wheels, BFG tires look new.

INTERIOR: Very tidy, unabashed, exceptionally clean inside. Claimed to be original interior, if it is that's amazing because it is excellent. The seats, door panels, armrests, carpet are excellent. Has rare fold flat rear seat. The dash is pristine looking- dash pad, knobs, vents, gauges. Heater controls move freely, has original am radio and factory tachometer. Glovebox liner is clean, light works. It has original owner's manual, top manual and protect-o-plate. The metal has smooth paint. New woodgrain deluxe wheel. Center console is mint, has factory gauges. Kick panels are mint, interior lights work. It has it's original GM seat belts.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The 350 motor is vin # matched to this car. We verified casting codes, dates and protect-o-plate. It has the double hump heads, upgraded with a Performer aluminium intake and a Holley carb. The exhaust manifolds, valve covers are stock. Correct distributor, plug wires look new, it has correct heat shield around the plugs. Reproduction hose clamps, the fan shroud and radiator look fresh. It has a Delco battery topper, spring clamp cables. The power brake booster is cadmium plated, the master and the lines all look new. Alternator looks new, squirters are hooked up. Everything is meticulously detailed. Bottom of the hood is painted satin black, has insulation, painted latch and hinges.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very tidy and complete. The metal is super clean and it was very neatly spatter painted. The "shaker" cans are still there. It has a matching 15 inch rally wheels with a brand new tire for a spare. The jack assembly looks brand new. The well liner, weatherstrip and decal look new.

UNDERSIDE: Frame was removed from the body, the underside of this car was restored and detailed. It even has assembly line markings reapplied. The front end was completely rebuilt- ball joints, bushings, center link, shocks were replaced. Subframe was reinstalled with new bushings. Bottom of the motor is spotless, starter looks new. It has it's vin # matching Muncie 4-speed. The trans and linkage look fresh. U-joints look new. Original 12 bolt posi with 3.07 gears, codes match the protect-o-plate. New shocks in back. New dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. New disc brake conversion in front. Brake lines and e-brake assembly look new. The fuel system looks new- tank, straps, lines, sending unit. The metal looks very clean, it was prepped and painted black.

This is one of those cars that got better as I inspected it. Great condition, desirable features and #s matching. It's an SS convertible that is ready for show and go while being an investment!
