1972 Jaguar E Type Roadster For Sale - 2,421 Original Miles From
New, Time Capsule LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1972
Jaguar XKE Convertible The outgoing Series II XKE 2 2 provided the
blueprint for the Series III. Corporate patriarch Sir William
Lyons' cost-cutting mandated the continued use of 4.2-liter E-type
bonnets. This challenged engineers to make the V12 fit in very
limited space. So designers widened the hidden tubular front
subframe by about four inches. The heart of the Series III is its
5.3-liter (326-ci) V12 of 60-degree design and three-plane
crankshaft producing 250 horsepower at 6,000 rpm with 288 ft-lb of
torque in U.S.-spec cars. The Series III car was 578 pounds heavier
than the 1961 roadster, but the V12's power delivery provided
similar performance compared to the original heralded 6-cylinder
engine. Most were ordered with a 4-speed manual transmission but,
there was also an optional proven Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic
coupled to a 3.31:1 rear ratio. This beautiful 1972 Jaguar E-type
Series III V12 roadster completed production at the Browns Lane
Coventry factory on September 7th, 1972 and was then dispatched on
September 26th, 1972, to British Leyland Motors Inc. of New York.
According to the British Heritage Certificate, this '72 E-type
roadster left the factory in Silver over Red leather interior and
was mated to V12 engine which was matched to the optional automatic
transmission. The original owner Marshall G. Kaplan picked up this
stunning XKE Roadster from Foreign Cars Of Northeast Inc. in
Northport, NY on 12/1/1972. After purchasing his new e-type
roadster, he took it home from the dealer without registering it in
his name which was common during the time. Shortly after that, the
dealer ended up closing leaving Mr. Kaplan without the necessary
paperwork needed to register his roadster. After getting
frustrated, he then hired an attorney to try and obtain an MSO from
Jaguar all while the car was still sitting in his garage with no
mileage on the odometer. Since the legal process took a couple
years, he ended up buying another E-type roadster while waiting and
drove it regularly. A few years went by and his legal actions were
successful in obtaining the original MSO allowing him to finally
register the car. Since he now had two cars, we decided to preserve
this one and keep the mileage as low as possible. Today the car
presents in amazing original condition having only traveled a mere
2,421 miles from new. It still wears its original factory applied
Silver paint and original red leather interior which are in
outstanding original condition. Under the hood looks like came it
off the assembly line with its original inspection markings still
visible. Currently we are not aware of another example in better
original condition! Documenting this original XKE are original
owners manual, heritage certificate, original MSO, loan agreement,
registration paperwork and much more! This is an amazing
opportunity to own one of the lowest mileage, most original Series
III XKE's in the world! Additional Details: 1972 JAGUAR E TYPE -
