Most will agree that precious few four-doors come close to the
visual appeal of the Maserati Ghibli. - NewCarTestDrive.com,
December 2014 The NewCarTestDrive writers found a lot to like in
the 2015 Ghibli: The styling: The iconic Maserati grille, the
triple front-fender vents, the sculpted creases and curves, the
fluid coupe-like roofline, the classic trident logos, the muscular
rear-drive proportions and sinewy athletic stance, all add up to a
unique blend of Italian sportiness and elegance. The interior:
Inside the cabin is an equally happy marriage of premium Italian
craftsmanship and modern amenities, the latter partly thanks to
Chrysler-based electronics. The soft leather-covered seats look as
good as they feel.... The power and performance: Nestled under that
lovely sculpted hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 good
for... 404 hp in the higher-performance Ghibli S Q4. It drives...
rear wheels through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission in normal
conditions, or all four of the Ghibli S Q4's when its all-wheel
drive senses a loss of rear grip. The front suspension is double
wishbone, the rear a five-arm multilink design. The Ghibli S Q4's
powerful Brembo brakes have six-piston monobloc calipers front,
four-piston grippers rear. Stand on the gas from rest, and there's
momentary turbo lag, but after that comes relentless, grin-inducing
propulsion accompanied by a muffled animal shriek exhaust note
punctuated by distinct turbo huffs with each transmission upshift.
And those shifts come quickly and crisply whether automatically or
manually with the paddles. The steering is equally quick and crisp,
the cornering athletically agile, the ride pleasingly damped and
the brakes appropriately powerful. The 2015 Maserati Ghibli S Q4
offered here is in excellent condition in every respect. Showing
just over 37,000 accident-free miles, or roughly 7,200 miles
per-year, it's well below the 15,000 miles per-year considered
average. This automobile has clearly been conscientiously
maintained over its life. As 1-of-100 Neiman-Marcus Edition cars,
there is added appeal from its rarity. The metallic gray exterior
paint maintains a like-new, uniform glass across the handsome body
contours. Cabin glass, moon roof, and lighting lenses are clear and
without imperfections; emblems-including the four Maserati trident
logos and the rear-deck model and Q4 designations-are complete.
Red-painted brake calipers and drilled rotors display beautifully
through 14-spoke, 20-inch wheels mounted with Pirelli P Zero tires.
The quad exhaust outlets hint at the car's turbocharged power.
Inside, the charcoal-and-amaretto two-color combination-on seating
surfaces, door trim, and across the dash (with its top-mounted
analog clock)-is classic and true to fine Italian motorcar design.
Leather seats feature a vertical-pleat design harkening back to
European automobiles of the past. Analog instruments face the
driver with paddle shift levers on the steering column. The
console-mounted automatic transmission shifter is surrounded by
un-marred, high-gloss, piano-black trim with a bespoke emblem
identifying the car as 1-of-100. Leather-trimmed carpet mats from
the factory protect the charcoal-colored carpets front and back.
All systems-infotainment, climate control, and
power-assist-function as they should. The engine bay is nicely
detailed and virtually
