Vehicle Description
STK 2847 1957 DESOTO FIRESWEEP
Back in 1957, there were many versions of Chrysler products from
which to choose. Styling was 'king' and this rare DeSoto hardtop is
a perfect example of a typical offering. The Firesweep 2-door
hardtop utilized the popular Dodge Coronet body shell in
conjunction with DeSoto's massive front clip and signature rear
fins. Our beautiful '57 DeSoto was fully restored (2005) to its
factory glory and the current owner (11 years) states that he
believes the odometer reading of just under 35,000 miles is actual.
The hardtop received a professional respray of 2-tone Frosty
White/Light Aqua/Frosty White (data tag codes L-M-L) that is in
excellent condition. A restored cloth/vinyl interior exhibits only
minor wear on seat surfaces/door panels and the beautiful Firesweep
dashboard with factory gauge cluster, optional AM radio (still
working) and dash-mounted rear view mirror is classic Chrysler.
Under the hood is the numbers-matching 'Poly-Head' 325ci V8 that
has never been rebuilt. It is fitted with virtually all of the
original components right down to an unusual air filter set-up and
was factory rated at 245 horsepower and 320 lb/ft of torque. The
transmission is the famed Chrysler 'Push-Button' TorqueFlite
3-speed automatic backed by a factory differential fitted with
efficient 3.54:1 gearing. A solid chassis is very clean and the big
DeSoto handles well with Chrysler's torsion bar front suspension.
Other features include power steering, 4-wheel manual drum brakes
(with upgraded dual master cylinder) and 12-volt factory electrics
w/generator. Finally, you can't overstate the visual impact of the
14" wide-white bias-ply tires matched with original full wheel
covers. Take a moment and look again at the photos. This DeSoto
Firesweep is 1957 to perfection and it is ready for a new owner who
will appreciate the beautiful style and excellent condition of this
full-size Chrysler classic. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
