This 1946 Ford Coupe Super Deluxe has classic flathead V8 power and
that in-demand sleek shape. Plus, this classic also has just the
right hints of upgrades to keep this vintage Ford a cool cruiser
for modern times.
This is a great year to own a classic American car. 1946 was Ford's
first car model year back in civilian production after WWII, and
this coupe does a great job of showcasing this return to style.
Gone are drab war colors, and so this one is painted a regal-like
blue some years ago. Plus, some great American iconic elements came
back, such as the bright chrome grille, chrome bumpers, and long
hood ornaments. Even the whitewall tires are a great reminder that
rubber shortages were gone and style was back. Overall the coupe
body always just seem to have a bit sleek/speedy style. As so while
you'll love this car's vintage attitude, there's also little
touches of street machine flair with items like the half-chrome
headlights, wide dual exhaust tips, and blue dot taillights.
The first impression of the interior is pure classic style. The
striped gray cloth on the seats gives you some added comfort, and
it coordinates nicely with the door panels, carpeting, and
headliner. While this was based on a pre-war design, Ford was still
leading in interior style. So you'll slip behind the original-style
two-spoke wheel and gaze over the fashionable and symmetrical
dashboard that's a perfect piece of art deco. This is meant to be a
driver's classic, and so you have handy upgrades mounted under the
dash, like the AM/FM/CD stereo for modern music. There are also
auxiliary readouts for oil pressure and coolant temp to keep you
well-informed about what's going on under the hood.
The 239 cubic-inch flathead V8 is truly a classic engine, and so
it's great to see so many classic details in its presentation. The
oil bath air cleaner, oil filter canister, decals, and Holley 2100
dual-barrel carb are all part of this correct-style presentation.
This is built to also be a driver, and so they did upgrade the
electrical system to 12 volts. The V8 fires up cleanly, and the
added dual exhaust gives this a great soundtrack. The three-speed
manual transmission shifts easily, and it all provides good power
for getting to the car shows with ease.
We all love the look of a classic coupe. It only gets better on one
that has the right history, worthwhile upgrades, and an affordable
price. Don't miss this fun Ford, call today!
