This gorgeous 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC – Chassis #8827 is a wonderful example of a true classic European sports car. It was designed by Pininfarina and truly timeless. Many Ferrari enthusiasts refer to this as the most drivable classic Ferrari. This car is 1 of only 600 manufactured between 1966-1968. It was documented by Ferrari expert Marcel Massini on December 09, 2012. The Marcel Massini report is included. It was beautifully restored in Italy by some notable names in the Ferrari community such as Carrozzeria Fantuzzi, Tappezzeria Luppi and Tony Franco. The car sports its original seldom seen color combination of Blue with Beige which is stunning. This car was imported to the United States in 2013 and has been in a private collection until now. The car has been well sorted out since restoration which is documented with invoices that are included. It has been shown at “The Quail” in Pebble Beach. It has achieved the Ferrari Club of America “Platinum Award”. “The Quail” lawn display piece and Ferrari Club of America “Platinum Award” are included. The car is accompanied with a reproduction set of owner’s manuals and tools that are included. This is a great opportunity to own a piece of European Automotive history.
In 2007, a restoration was started by some of the finest artisans in Europe. The body work and paint were completed by well-known Carrozzeria Fantuzzi body workshop in Italy. The Carrozzeria Fantuzzi was founded by Medardo Fantuzzi in Modena, Italy. Medardo was born in 1906 in Bolonga. He and his brother Gino Fantuzzi were famous for their affiliation with Maserati, where they got involved in building the Maserati A6 GCS, Maserati 350S and Maserati 200S. Later, Medardo worked for Ferrari (until 1966), known for building the Pininfarina penned Ferrari 250 Testarossa Spyder Fantuzzi. The workshop also did some one-off roading Ferraris. Fantuzzi also worked for De Tomaso. Medardo Fantuzzi died in 1986. His carrozzeria still exists. Under the guidance of Medardos son Fioenzo, the company now focusses on body repair and classic car restoration.
In 2012, the interior was completed by well-known Tappezzeria Luppi workshop in Italy. When it comes to the restoration of classic Ferrari interiors, there is only one name that is considered the reference- Tappezzeria Luppi. A master saddler, Romano established his business in 1978, with a small workshop in Modena. In addition to working directly for Ferrari and Scaglietti, upholstering most of the marque’s cars, he also began to offer restoration and repair services to the owners of old Ferraris. Inevitably, his expertise soon garnered him a reputation as the specialist in the field. Before his death, Romano passed down the skills and knowledge he had acquired over 40-odd years to his son, Fabio, who today heads the business.
The mechanicals and engineering were completed by well-known Toni Auto in Italy. Toni Auto is a garage situated in Maranello specialized in the restoration of cars that bear the famous brands of the land of engines. The company was founded by Toni Franco who gained his experience working in his youth, into Ferrari racing department and Francorchamps in Belgio. The expertise gained by the son Silvano in the racing department of the victorious Ferrari sports-prototypes, has also contributed to professional growth of the company. Today, Toni Auto is really recognized for reliability and quality that characterize it and proposes for routine maintenance or for the total recovery of those who are the jewels of the horse, the trident and the bull. Silvano, sons Davide and Andreas, supported by valid employees, lead with passion and constant commitment to tradition, without neglecting the importance about having a look on the future.
In 2012, the car was sent to well-known GTO engineering to be serviced by owner Tom Hartley. Tom Hartley is a high-end car dealer in the UK. The invoices that document the service work are included. From the information provided from Tom Harley this car had four owners from new. The first owner was from 1967-1970. The second owner was 1970-1980. The third owner was from 1980-1997. The fourth owner was from 1997-2012.
The exterior of this car is absolutely stunning in every sense of the word. Pininfarina’s extremely elegant bodywork took after 500 Superfast at the front and the 275 GTS at the rear. Carrozzeria Fantuzzi did a fabulous job on everything. The body is super straight with great body gaps throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid operate very nicely. The car was finished in its original exterior color of Blue which is gorgeous. This color is seldom seen and fits this car like a glove. The paint work is show quality and has been detailed to a brilliant shine. All the glass is in very nice condition. The front and rear glass seem to have been replaced. The rear glass has a window defroster. The vent glass, door glass, quarter glass is stamped Securit and appears original. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the window trim, drivers side mirror, headlight bezels, headlights, split front bumpers, fender vent trim, door handles, lower molding, rear split bumpers w/ bumper guards, taillights and emblems. The car sits on the smooth 10-hole alloy design, like those used on the sports racing competition Ferrari models of the period with a knock-off spinner to the Rudge hub. The wheels are wrapped with new Michelin XWX 215/70R14 tires. The tires were replaced on April 22, 2020 as documented on invoice that is included.
The interior of this car is also absolutely stunning in every sense of the word. The cabin space is larger than prior Ferrari models which allow more room for a larger driver and passenger. Tappezzeria Luppi did an excellent job throughout. This interior was finished in its original color of Beige which is rich. The color combination of Blue and Beige is gorgeous. Everything in the interior was restored to high standards. The headliner pattern is similar to the seats. The headliner and sun visors are a creamy white color which lightens up the space. The grab handles, coat hooks and dome lights were placed along the top lines. The dash, center console, top of door panels, door arm rest, top of rear panels, rear compartment and carpet is black. The dash face and steering wheel is wood. The door panels, bucket seats and luggage straps are beige. All the gauges are black and organized very nicely throughout. Everything in the interior is in working order such as the dome lights, headlights, turn signals, horn, gauges, clock, power antenna, power windows and radio. This is a wonderfully comfortable and user-friendly interior that makes driving a joy.
The engine compartment is nicely detailed throughout. The engine compartment design was very modern considering the age with the attention to detail. All the serial numbers are in the correct locations. Everything was restored or replaced during the restoration process. The engine compartment was finished in black. The car is powered by the original matching numbers 4-liter V12 engine that is rated at 300 bhp. The engine was an enlarged version of that fitted to the 275 GTB, and virtually identical in specifications to that used in the late series 330 GT 2+2 models: a single overhead camshaft per bank V12 wet sump unit, with factory type reference 209/66 of 3,967 cc capacity. Tony Franco did an excellent job with the engineering and mechanicals. The engine is fitted with three Weber carburetors which are covered with a great looking black air cleaner.
The undercarriage is nicely detailed throughout. The undercarriage was finished in black. Everything was restored or replaced during the restoration process.
