Arguably Pininfarina's quintessential design of the 1970s and 1980s
is that of the Ferrari 308. The 308 was an instant hit and became
one of Ferrari's most iconic automobiles. Considering the success
of the 308 GTB and GTS models, Ferrari knew that it was in its best
interest to retain the same formula for the car's successor, the
328.
Stylistically, the design remained very similar to its predecessor,
save for molded bumpers, a slightly smaller front grille and a
small roof spoiler. The engine was addressed too, and capacity grew
to 3,186-cc through increasing the bore and stroke, hence the car's
designation of '328'. Ferrari built the 328 in GTB and GTS
configuration from 1985 to 1989.
This 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS, finished in rare Azzurro Blue over
Beige, was purchased new by James Khougaz from the renowned
Hollywood Sport Cars in Hollywood, California. Khougaz was a
well-known builder of hot rods in the 1950s and 1960s, and he
always longed for a Ferrari. Khougaz cherished and drove the 328
GTS sparingly before his age caught up with him, resulting in the
car being left in his climate-controlled garage, where it sat for
nine years before his passing.
The second owner acquired the Ferrari from Khougaz's estate and a
complete service was commissioned, which included the replacement
of the timing belt in 2013. It was subsequently purchased in early
2014 by the current owner, who has since put just 1,341 miles on
the car. Under current ownership the car has benefitted from no
expense spared maintenance at the Meccanic Shop North, Miller
Motorcars, and Auto Turismo Sport.
Included with the car is the original sales contract and window
sticker from Hollywood Sport Cars, previous registration documents,
service records going back to 1987, period advertisements, owner's
and warranty manuals with pouch, and original tool kit. Scans and
images of all records are on file for review to prospective
bidders.
With three owners and just 10,407 miles from new, this 328 GTS,
finished in a color not often seen, is a Ferrari not to be
missed. To view this car and others currently consigned to this
