1963 Chevrolet Nova SS
VIN: 30437K151826
-An Exceptionally Nice Restored Car
-Drivetrain Professionally Built for Road or Track
-Stunning Interior
When Chevrolet introduced the Chevy II in 1962, it was quickest program brought to production that GM ever did. It was a "basic-type" car meant to compete in the compact market against the Ford Falcon and rolled off the assembly line just 18 months following the design team getting the green light. Available engines in 1962 and 1963 was the 153 cu in inline-four and the 194 Chevrolet straight-6 engine. The Nova option was available only on the 400 series convertible and sport coupe and featured special emblems, instrument package, wheel covers, side moldings, bucket seats and floor shifter.
The car presented at auction bears all the markings of a true 63 Nova SS, but features a professionally built drive-train and upgraded suspension. At first look, the quality of the body restoration shows in the laser straight body and the beautiful new interior. The deep metallic paint was expertly applied and the trunk and underside of the car looks just as good! The chrome shows very well and the Centerline wheels enhance the stunning stance of the car.
Under the hood is a 355 cu in professionally built engine topped by an Edelbrock carburetor and B & M forced induction blower. The engine is mated to a Powerglide 2sp high performance transmission. The rear-end has 4:11 gears and the drivetrain components were assembled and built for the quarter mile. The custom exhaust provides the Detroit sound muscle car enthusiasts crave and the car runs in the 10.5's on the 1/4 mile track.
The unique aspect to this car is that it is at home both on the track and cruising on the road. The Nova drives straight and true, turns heads, garners many thumbs up and is a favorite when presented at car shows. The fit and finish on this car is exceptional.
