Buyavette is offering for sale this 1969 Oldsmobile 442 that was a
father-son project that took 3 years to complete. The Consignor
states this car to be a numbers matching 455 Cu In with automatic
transmission, that has gone through a complete rebuild/update to
all mechanicals. In his words, "what sells this car isn't what you
see on top - but rather what's under the hood and chassis". When
purchased in 2016, the car had been repainted in the original Aztec
Gold with the addition of a 2-stage paint, and someone had the idea
that instead of replacing the vinyl roof, they would spray Rhino
Coating on it. The car shows very well, and would be considered a
good driver quality paint job. All the trim and emblems all appear
original, and are in average to good condition, the bumpers have
been re-chromed. The 455 engine is a 4-bolt main, that was rebuilt
to stock specs, outside the additions of a high-volume oil pump,
slight duration increase of a roller Comp Cam, roller rockers, and
a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads, and Performer intake, with a
Holley Quick Fuel 750 double pumper carb. Taking a look under the
hood, you'll see the detail that was done to make this look
somewhat impressive from the 'Ol Days! The Billet brackets,
serpentine belts, aluminum radiator w/ (2) electric fans, ceramic
headers, and some chrome accents just sets this apart from your run
of the mill engine bay. The 455 is mated to the rebuilt Turbo 400
trans, with 1,200-rpm stall converter, and rebuilt GM 12-bolt
Posi-Traction rear end with 3:42 gears. So not only does she sound
good - but she'll get up and go! All with just under 1,500-miles
since being reinstalled. The father-son team next attacked the
chassis by blasting, and deep cleaning after a complete dismantle.
Then came the addition of UMI tubular upper/lower control arms,
trailing arms, and springs, along with all bushings being replaced
with urethane bushings . With all these new parts standing out due
to the Red paint, they decided to powder coat the front/rear sway
bars to match. The complete undercarriage was then treated with
Rhino Coating, which takes the worry out of chipping away at all
the detail that was done, and all hardware was replaced with Grade
8 quality. Take a look under this car, and you will be impressed on
how new it all looks! The idea was to update as well as make this
car handle and drive like new - that was accomplished. Next came
the interior, and he states that the seat covers, and door panels
are all original, just needing to be refreshed. While it was
completely taken apart and cleaned, they decided to add double
thickness of DynaMat on the floors, roof, doors, fire wall, and
rear deck area. The seats were taken apart, and all new foam was
added, as well as a new headliner. The dash pad was in such great
shape, that it was left alone, while apart, they decided to update
all gauges with the addition of AutoMeter, added Vintage A/C, and
an aftermarket steering wheel. You can't have all this work done
and not take on the wheels! So, a new set of SS II 15"x8" rims were
installed with Cooper Cobra 235/60/15, 255/60/15 Radial G/T tires
were installed having just 300-miles since new. Options on this
1969 442 include: Vinyl Interior, Power Steering, Power Brakes,
Vintage A/C, Rally Wheels. To back up the story on this car, she
will come with all documentation including photos, and receipts. It
would take very little to take this car to the next level, or enjoy
