The car was bought as a running unit.  It was completely stripped – body off frame, etc.  The 327 cubic inch engine was replaced with a big block 396 cubic inch engine with a build date corresponding to the original build date of the car.  Intake manifold and exhaust manifolds are 427’s with correct build dates.

The engine was taken to Craiger Race Engines in Clymer, New York.  Block was bored .060” over, crank shaft measured, and all new components installed.  Original carburetor was rebuilt along with the distributor.  An electronic ignition set was installed.  The engine was dynamometered and produced 403.3 horsepower, 365.2 lb-ft torque at 5,800 rpm.  Data print out available.

Frame was completely stripped, power washed, inspected andmeasured at Dias Spring in Erie, PA., then sent for powder coating.  All components were cleaned, repainted, and reassembled.  Frame was stenciled with proper build number, date, and shim markings.  All steering components, differential, and transmission were rebuilt by Bair Corvette, Linesville, PA..  Original shifter was rebuilt and installed. All assembly was done at my home with assistance by Rob Spencer Engineering.Vinyl covered hardtop is original – not rebuilt as well as the convertible soft top.

Body work, repainting, and detailing was done locally on a roll-around frame.

Dash instruments and clock were rebuilt by Instrument Services, Inc., Roscoe, Illinois.  Interior material was purchased from Al Knoch Interiors, Canutillo, Texas.  Seats were rebuilt locally and covered with Al Knoch material. Wiper motor and components were rebuilt by Corvette Specialties of Mid West.  Headlight bucket motor through Bair Corvette, and almost all other new material from Paragon Reproductions, Inc. in Swartz Creek, Michigan.  All copies of receipts available.

The wheels were dipped and measured for run out, repainted and new Coker BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial P205/75R15 Red Line Radial tires installed.  The spare is the original 775X15X2 ply tire.

The car was taken to a local alignment shop, road tested and delivered back to my home.

Additional photos of the entire rebuild are available.  The original dealersales brochure comes with the car.
