Vehicle Description
This 1963 Porsche 356B (T6) Karmann Coupe was completed on
September 4, 1962 as a 1963 model for the US market. The original
build specification included Ivory (6204) paintwork, a Black
leatherette interior and Continental tires. The Certificate of
Authenticity on hand confirms that the engine, #609340, and
transmission, #58129, match factory records.
The current state of this lovely Porsche is exactly the way it was
originally built. It currently wears nice Ivory paintwork that is
in good condition overall with only a few wear marks. The exterior
trim is mostly original (not reproduction) and is in very good
condition. The side window frames have been beautifully re-chromed.
The black vinyl interior has been redone to a high standard
although an incorrect carpet material was selected. The dash gauges
are in good working order and it appears as if the dash paint may
be the original finish from 1962. The wheels have been refinished
and look great with original chrome hubcaps with crests. New
Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in size 165 HR 15 were just
installed and help to complete the period-correct look. The front
trunk is mostly original, but the battery area has been correctly
redone, we're sure to cure rust. The matching number engine is
nicely detailed and correct throughout including the right
carburetors and air cleaners. On the road, this T6 B is tons of fun
with an engine that runs very well and feels like it has more than
60 HP. The gearbox shifts easily and doesn't need any special
attention. The brakes, which are new, stop the car easily and keep
it going straight. In short, this is very good driver that is
matching numbers throughout and is priced attractively.
