For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

In an age where the typical collector swaps classic metal faster than Mister Rogers changed sweaters, it's hard to imagine finding a fully documented, low-mileage survivor that so authentic it still rolls on original, NOS tires. But this exclusive Chevy, sporting heavy servicing as its sole alteration, is just that. Yes indeed, as a reference-grade example of one of the best cars ever created, the legendary Corvette, this classic has earned the NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence, the NCRS Performance Verification Award, the NCRS 4-Star Bowtie Award and Bloomington Gold Benchmark honors. And if you're looking for an exceptional collector car, it's your chance to claim the crown!

LACQUER LIFE

Perhaps Harley Earl's greatest creation, the Corvette proved GM's Chevrolet juggernaut had the strength to truly be all things to all people. And by the 1960s, Bill Mitchell and Zora Arkus Duntov had honed America's sports car into a world-class performer that wholly embodied the ethos of the American Dream. Rolling out of Ruwart-McKinnon Chevrolet in April of 1970, this reference-grade Sting Ray is an immaculately maintained time capsule that's traveled just 33,708 miles over the course of 51 years. In fact, of those scant miles, only 5,148 were logged since 1986 and only 101 since 2008. Naturally, a classic of this stature has been recognized by pretty much everyone in the hobby; with a number of photographs of various components of the car being included in the 5th Edition of the NCRS 1968-69 Corvette Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide. A prestigious NCRS 4-Star Award, bestowed in 2017, was followed by an NCRS Performance Verification Award in 2018. In 2019, this Chevy scored 99.1 points on its way to an NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence Award, which sits nicely on the shelf beside the Bloomington Gold BENCHMARK Award the car scored 98.8 points to win back in 2016. And today, this exclusive classic, primed to secure both MCACN Triple Diamond and NCRS 5-Star honors, is sure to captivate the most knowledgeable and experienced automotive enthusiasts in the world!

Detailing for this coupe's original Burgundy lacquer paint begins with original, stainless-trimmed grilles that center small parking lamps between a thin bumper and subtle chin spoiler. Above that mirrored brow, a cross-flag-branded header draws the eye to a stainless-trimmed hood that seats bold "427" emblems at the foot of a vacuum operated cowl. That hood reflects factory Soft Ray Glass that's framed by straight stainless and capped with body-matched T-tops. At the sides of that glass, flush door poppers and classy "Stingray" scripts perfectly complement a chrome driver's mirror, bright TJ2 fender gills and satin rocker guards. And at the back of the car, a stainless-trimmed, "CORVETTE" branded valance hangs a chrome tag frame and dual-mode tail lamps between thin bumpers, an ornate fuel filler and polished exhaust tips.

YEP, IT'S A BIG BLOCK CAR

Beneath the sculpted hood you'll find an original, 427 cubic inch big block that hangs a correct 3963512 casting number behind a correct, 1969 Corvette-exclusive "LL" suffix stamp and a matching 736331 partial VIN. Straight from the factory, GM's stout L36 V8 utilized high performance internals and oval-port heads to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into an even 390 horsepower! At the peak of the pavement-scorching mill, a polished and decaled air cleaner swirls wind in to a correct Winters intake by way of a familiar 4-barrel carburetor. At the sides of that plane, cast iron heads hang stamped and polished valve covers over old school, cast exhaust manifolds. At the back of those heads, chrome-capped ignition sequences spark through sleeved plug wires. And in front of those wires, era-correct smog equipment frames a beefy radiator. Naturally, ancillary components are exact in every way, with pliable hoses and a rust-free brake booster accompanying stainless fuel lines, tight tower clamps and a requisite Delco-Remy alternator. And bright Chevy Orange engine skin is seated in a clean, Satin Black frame.

51 YEARS OF CLEAN LIVING

Peer under this low-slung Chevy and you'll find a familiar factory chassis that's straight, solid and ready to roll. The car's stout big block twists torque through an original Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed, which hangs a correct "CL - 69" assembly tag opposite a matching 736331 partial VIN. That numbers-matching transmission spins a correct differential that, according to its "CAW" assembly code, sports correct 3.08 gears. Beneath that drivetrain, a factory suspension combines correct, optional power steering with correct, power-assisted discs. True-dual pipes shuttle spent gases through throaty turbo mufflers. All that high quality hardware rides on factory steelies, which spin correct, NOS Goodyear white stripes around handsome Deluxe Wheel Covers. And those retro meats have only spun 101 miles since being mounted.

ALL-ORIGINAL, EVEN IN HERE

Slip this Stingray's factory alarm system and you'll find an all-original interior built around correct vinyl buckets that are peaked with optional headrests. A familiar dash founds an array of black-trimmed telemetry above a factory-optioned AM/FM radio. At the base of that dash, a tapered console frames a factory shifter. Below that console, Corvette-themed floor mats split the difference between clean carpet and stainless-trimmed foot pedals. At the edges of that rug, weather-free door panels feature tasteful stainless hardware. And a fixed column spins a sporty, satin-spoke steering wheel.

Coveted and cherished, this national award-winning Chevy is a reference-grade Space Age super star that's ready to be shown and celebrated. With top-notch preservation, major provenance and more style than pretty much anything on the road, the car literally defines the term "investment grade". If you're looking for a first-rate classic with virtually unmatched exclusivity, hit up https://www.RKMotors.com and take home this incredible Corvette Sting Ray!
