Vehicle Description
This is a real-deal low-mileage 1970 Oldsmobile 442 that has its
numbers-matching 455 V8, true ram air, and a His & Hers Hurst
shifter. Oh yeah, it's an awesome couple, and they made the right
investments to keep it that way.
Burnished Gold just seems like the ideal paint for an Olds muscle
machine. This factory correct color strikes the right tone for a
premium coupe, and the hint of metallic has the kind of
look-at-me-style that comes in a performance car. And this really
does have all the best muscle car pieces. The painted black hood
stripes draw added attention to the hood scoops; you have wickedly
flared fenders; and the rear spoiler is a true standout. Plus,
there's the Super Stock wheels, fastback-style body, and notched
rear bumper accommodates the dual exhaust. The bumpers are also
part of the style factor comes into play again with all the great
brightwork receiving a solid investment later in life.
Even more distinction awaits you inside. The factory-correct gold
means this was born with a full precious metal appearance inside
and out. You paid a premium to get the Oldsmobile name back in the
day, and so there are plenty of luxury touches throughout. It
starts with the optional button-top bucket seat design. The wood
paneling on the center console is in great shape, and it matches
the doors and the dashboard. There are integrated upgrades, like
the R134a air conditioning (it will need servicing.) Plus, the
AM/FM radio still has the cool working 8-Track, but you also have a
CD changer in the trunk to update your driving music selections.
But the best part of this coupe is the driving experience. You get
the classic Olds sports steering wheel, cool factory round gauge
package with tach, and the classic Hurst "His & Hers" dual gate
shifter.
Under the hood is the big 455 cubic-inch V8, and it's the
numbers-matching unit! You'll love showing it off with the bold
blue block, tidy presentation, and the unmistakable look of the big
OAI air grabber that seals to the fresh air hood. This is a
terrific powerhouse that gets even better when you find out that it
was rebuilt during the restoration. In fact, we have receipts
documenting over $15k invested between 2013-2016 to keep this
muscle Olds looking and running its best. So the V8 fires up
readily as it inhales deeply from the four-barrel carburetor, and
it exhales with a great rumble through the dual exhaust. The TH400
three-speed transmission is stout enough to handle all of this
power, and it also is great for settling down into Sunday cruising.
Plus, this has the right driving features, like power steering,
power brakes w/discs upfront, sports suspension w/sway bars front &
rear.
It will be hard to find another true 442 with such low mileage and
all the right features you'll want to show off (this even has the
owner's manual, and maintenance records.) So hurry before the
coolest restored 442 you'll see ends up in someone else's gagrage.
