For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is a very desirable Rally Sport- Super Sport with a list of options including a big block and a 4-speed. It looks like it went through a pretty extensive, quality restoration. Exceptionally clean metal that I believe is original.

EXTERIOR: This car shows really well. Body, paint and trim are exceptional. It features a cowl hood and spoilers. The body is straight, it fits real nice. Doors open and close like new. I did not see any damage, bubbles or cracks. Appears to have original 1/4 panels, I did not see any splices from the inside. The paint is polished very smooth and glossy. Stripes are painted on, jambs are painted very nicely. Weather strips were replaced. It looks like all the chrome was replaced. It has the optional bumper guards and the exterior trim group which includes the louvers on the quarters and wheel well moldings. The bumpers, bumper guards, emblems, grills, marker lights, mirrors and handles were replaced. The Rally Sport of course includes the hideaway lights but also includes relocated reverse lights below the bumper. This car has radial redline BFG tires on 14x7 rally wheels. The black convertible top is new, the frame was prepped and painted gloss black and all new weather strips installed.

INTERIOR: It's restored very nicely and it's optioned out really well. It has the very desirable deluxe interior with houndstooth upholstery. This also includes molded door panels and wood grain trim. Other options include factory gauge package including a clock, a center console, sport wheel, reproduction floor mats and a factory AM/FM stereo. I'm sitting in the car and in front of me the metal part of the dash has been painted very neatly, the dash pad and the pillars have been replaced. The heater control panel looks like it's been replaced, the instrumentation all looks clean. I don't see anything broken, drilled or cracked. It has a new ashtray and matching cigarette lighter, inside the glove box the liner is new. Both kick panels look nice, the vents are functional and it has the optional factory speakers. The center console has a Hurst 4-speed sticking out of it with a chrome ball. It has the correct GM seat belts down on the floor. The carpet is excellent, has reproduction mats. The door panels are overall in great shape, has a nick or two on the very edge. The upholstery is not new but very good.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It looks like a very fresh restoration under the hood to factory specs. It has a 1972 Camaro 396 motor, the Chevy orange paint is spotless and all the nuts and bolts are fresh. It fires right up and runs smooth. It as stock manifolds, distributor and carb. New cowl induction air cleaner and new correct chrome valve covers with proper decals. New brackets, pulleys and alternator. The radiator, fan clutch, shroud looks new. It has reproduction GM hoses and clamps. The power steering pump and hoses look new. The power brake booster and master look new. The wiper motor looks fresh, squirters are hooked up. Lots of little details look new- Delco battery topper, power top relay, vacuum headlight components etc. All the metal is nice and clean with a smooth black finish, hinges are gray. Bottom of the hood and jamb are painted glossy.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk compartment looks very tidy and complete. It has the shaker canisters in each corner, new rubber mat and matching tire cover. New weather strip, decals and well liner. It has a redline tire on a rally wheel. The trunk floor is solid, the 1/4s don't have any splices, it's paint with a spatter finish. The bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy.

UNDERSIDE: The metal looks to me like it's original and exceptionally clean. Even the inner rockers and quarters are dry, the original drain holes are in tact. The front end has been gone through. It has frame connectors to reduce flex. The bottom of the motor is spotless, starter looks new. The trans and linkage also look fresh. It's a Muncie M-20 4-speed. Original 12 bolt in back with 3.07 gears. New fuel tank, straps, insulators and sending unit. New correct exhaust system with transverse muffler. Disc brakes in front with new calipers and hoses, e-brake cables are hooked up.

Wow, now that I'm done with my inspection I am really impressed with the metal. It appears to original and very clean. I rarely see the metal right behind the rear tires this clean. Overall nicely restored. Very, very desirable car with desirable features. I would love to go for a nice fall cruise down some winding roads shifting those gears. I'll leave that for you, but you need to call and buy it first!
