Vehicle Description
Did you miss our opportunity at the Special Edition 427? Want
another chance? This low-mileage 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 SE
is a true 427 special edition, and it remains exceptionally fresh
in every way - right down to the rare Grabber Orange paint. And
yes, the supercharged V8 Is ready to make this instant collectable
also a juggernaut of the streets.
The Shelby SE is a rare and interesting treat. It was a way for
those who really love to take the Ford-Shelby partnership to the
max. The few with deep pockets would send their GT500s direct to
Shelby American for further upgrading. While most people chose the
Super Snake package, the SE was a bit lesser known. It upgrades the
power and handling while still retaining more of the factory car's
lines. There's a good reason not to touch the factory's work.
Grabber Orange is an iconic performance pony car color, and this is
only one of 210 made that year. So on an example that has barely
averaged over 700 miles annually, the color retains a level of
gloss that can turn your garage into a showroom. The color looks
particularly sharp with the black stripes place on top. Plus, the
carbon fiber front splitter, heat extractor hood, full-width rear
spoiler, and bright dual exhaust tips all give this one a speedy
image. And the upgraded 20-inch polished Shelby wheels can't help
but attract all the eyeballs. Another reason for such outstanding
care is because the rarity is furthered on this one. You may notice
from the badging, this is the extra-special 427 edition. It pays
tribute to Shelby American sponsoring the Las Vegas NASCAR race
with 427 laps to match the legendary V8 displacement. This was sent
to Shelby American in September 2009 for official conversion, and
it is listed as #36 of the 427 limited examples.
The upgrades found their way into the interior, too. The deeply
sculpted leather GT500 seats now have orange inserts and wear the
exclusive 427 embroidery on the headrests. The same logo is on the
special floor mats and trunk. The GT500 is a premium machine, and
so you got premium features such as air conditioning, power
windows, power locks, keyless entry/alarm, power driver's seat,
power steering, cruise control, tilt wheel, dual airbags, side
airbags, and the premium Shaker 500 AM/FM/CD stereo. You know this
is a special Shelby, because of the individually numbered plaque on
the dash (and who doesn't love being #007?) Also, this one shows
it's special with the Shelby shifter below the engraved panel, and
the AutoMeter Shelby full gauge package above it.
As much as we all love the interior and exterior upgrades, it's
what's under the hood that keeps us all salivating. The GT500's
supercharged DOHC 5.4-liter V8 was upgraded even more and Shelby
massaged extra power to make 630 hp total. And you're in full
control of it all with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission on
a short-throw shifter. Of course, power is nothing without control.
That's why it's running an upgraded Ford Racing suspension,
including dynamic adjustable dampers, lowered springs, tuned
stabilizer bars, and front strut tower brace. There's also vented
disc brakes at every corner, backed up by super sticky Pirelli
P-Zero tires.
The car comes with paperwork like the Ford window sticker, GT500
certificate, owner's manual packet, title documentation, and
receipts for nearly $32k invested at Shelby American to create one
of the rarest pony car collectables around. So if you missed the
opportunity at a 427 special edition a decade ago, rarely do you
get a second chance like this. Don't miss out, call today!
