The 2002 Cadillac Eldorado was the final year for the classic
full-size American luxury sedan, and so this limited Commemorative
Edition pays tribute as the last of the breed. It's a
well-maintained and low-mileage loaded V8 cruiser that reminds you
what the grand tour is all about.
You don't have to spend a million bucks to look like it. The long
hood and short deck theme that made the Eldorado name iconic was
arguably at its best in the tenth and final generation. The sleek
roofline with the almost fastback rear window gives it a sporty
appeal. And the subtle elegance of the well-respected Alpine White
paint has a porcelain-like look in the sunshine. As proper a
Cadillac, there are premium touches everywhere you look: from the
bright factory alloy wheels to the gold lettering that matches the
pinstriping. This was cared for like someone's baby, and we know
exactly why. The last few years of the Eldorado were made a GM's
specialty factory. And a final Commemorative Edition was made in
three batches of 532 (1,596 total). They represent the original run
of Eldorados that premiered fifty years prior.
The Shale leather interior has some special stitching for this
special Eldorado. Plus, the overall design is arguably one of GM's
best layouts around. A sweeping instrument panel with wood inserts
makes it feel airy, but the center console helps to coddle you in
individual luxury. There's even a special plaque designating this
cars number in the limited run. A modern classic means plenty of
desirable features, including power windows, power locks, keyless
entry/alarm, cruise control, power front seats, power mirrors, trip
computer, dual airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a power sunroof. The
automatic A/C climate control and heated front seats means always
being able to dial-in your ideal comfort. The radio has even been
upgraded to an AM/FM/CD/XM touchscreen infotainment unit that
features Bluetooth. This has the features and the size to fit five
people in luxury. But even if it's just you, driving is a real
treat thanks to what's under the hood.
Cadillac's 32-valve 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine is one of the
best you'll find in modern classics, and this one has been taken
care of correctly. No matter if you're starting from a stoplight or
already at highway speeds, this 300 horsepower multi-valve V8 has
the legs for powerful acceleration. Fuel injection means modern
dependability, and the four-speed automatic transmission means
overdrive comfort. So this is truly a desirable Caddy. Plus, with a
fully independent suspension, power steering, and four-wheel power
disc brakes, this Cadillac coupe is capable of tight moves.
Complete with owner's manual, this is the luxurious coupe that pay
tribute to the final run of true Cadillac grand touring style.
