Vehicle Description
By this point, it's probably become second nature to type up
https://www.RKMotors.com and scope some of the coolest classics on
the planet. But, occasionally, we like to get a little crazy and
make sure you're still paying attention. Hey, a gearhead is a
gearhead, right? We love ALL kinds of people movers. That's why
we're sure you'll dig this boss Hummer Alpha! Combining a legendary
Duramax/Allison powertrain with taut Saddle leather and minacious
Metallic Black paint, this awesome H1 is a tough, mil-spec warrior
that doubles as a suave boulevard stunner. And if you're ready to
enjoy a serious ute with serious chops, it's your chance to claim
some outsized cool!
NIGHT OPS, METALLIC EDITION
Nearly every iconic off-roader has a cult following, but the
storied H1 is arguably one of the most sought after 4x4s of all
time. Introduced in 1992 as a civilian-friendly version of AM
General's M998 Humvee, the H1 remained the foundation of the Hummer
brand for close to two decades. According to its owner, this
final-year rig spent most of its life confined to pavement in the
hands of an AM General executive. Then, around two or three years
ago, the truck was passed to Kascar, LLC, one of few remaining
designated AM General service centers, for a thorough restoration.
And the rest, as they say, is all weekend miles and
climate-controlled history!
Rolling both sophisticated and imposing, this brute wraps distinct
worldly swagger in a smooth coat of Metallic Black two-stage that's
aesthetically solidified by dark-tint windows. At the front of that
pigment, an impressive 72 degree approach angle leads a rugged Warn
winch, which clasps heavy duty tow hooks beneath a glossy brush
guard, a small Duramax badge and snazzy Truck-Lite headlights.
Behind those torches, an HMMWV hood centers Gloss Black venting
between a short snorkel and chip-free glass that's flanked by matte
wipers and foldable mirrors. Those mirrors reflect extruded doors
and HMMWV quarters, which recess small marker lamps above a massive
16 inches of ground clearance. And at the back of those quarters, a
small camera and a bright Alpha badge join two more tow hooks and a
frame-mounted hitch to cap an impressive 37.5 degrees of departure
angle.
DIESEL MUSCLE
Tilt this Hummer's hood and you'll find 6.6 liters of world class
Duramax Diesel. Tailored to the H1's archetypal profile thanks to
clever GM Powertrain engineers, that proven mill turns miles of
torque into decades of reliability. As expected, the Duramax update
brought an improved 5-speed automatic gearbox from former GM
compatriot Allison Transmission. A fully redesigned cooling system
ensures cold starting all the way down to minus 30 degrees
Fahrenheit. Dual batteries are raised next to a sealed air box to
allow the safe fording of 30 inches of water. Also new for 2006 was
a massaged high strength steel chassis that, in addition to tucking
the truck's driveline flush inside a fully independent suspension,
affords a 2006-exclusive 51mm body lift that enables this beast to
climb a 22-inch step and handle 60 percent grades. Power-assisted
steering makes turns manageable. Power-assisted HMMWV discs are
mounted inboard for the sake of durability. Two fuel tanks offer
extended-range travel. And at the corners, two-piece alloys wrap
37x12.50R17 OEM Goodyear Wrangler GS-As around a standard Central
Tire Inflation System.
SURPRISINGLY OPULENT
When you step up to this level, trucks are all about combining the
best elements of comfort and utility. That's why it's so refreshing
to hop in the cab of this purposeful but nicely appointed Hummer.
The stars of the show are four Saddle-trimmed leather buckets that
feature heat for the front passengers and audio for the rear
passengers. A chunky, two-tone dash hangs intricate telemetry next
to factory climate control and modern Kenwood audio, which bumps
roof-mounted Monsoon speakers. At the sides of that dash, simple
door panels front modern power windows and remote power door locks.
And the driver rules the road through a trick, "H1" branded
steering wheel that laps studious Cruise Control.
Unbeatable trail walker, or unique cruiser that's guaranteed to
start a conversation? We'll let you decide, but either way there's
no arguing the appeal of this iconic Hummer. Exclusive to the final
year of H1 production, GM's aptly named Alpha trim adorned
legendary capability with civil conveniences and handsome finishes.
And, let's face it, you just really can't go wrong with anything
that's hitched to a storied Duramax diesel and a stalwart Allison
transmission. Well-built and ready to conquer the world, this
all-American brute is a cool and equally exclusive collectable, and
if you're a serious truck enthusiast who demands the ultimate, it's
an excellent opportunity to step up to the big leagues!
