This incredible Type 2 Camper is offered today from its first and
only owner. First registered in the U.K. on March 28, 1974, it was
purchased at Wolf Garage in Westerham, Kent. Its accompanying
original VW Service Record booklet shows that eight months later,
it had been driven nearly 7,000 miles, recording the delivery
inspection and first three services. The van was regularly used by
the consignor until roughly August 2009, when it was taken off the
road. The next year, a friend of the owner offered to restore the
bus to its former glory.
The Camper's history file details work carried out since the late
1990's. This includes the restoration work that commenced in 2010
which included a new canvas roof, full repaint, new interior
floorboards and new floor panels to remedy rust in the floors, new
window and door seals, along with other assorted parts and work.
Furthermore, it is accompanied by its original manuals and a period
VW Microbus brochure. Invoices are also on file for work carried
out since the restoration to 2019, showcasing that it has been both
regularly enjoyed and properly looked after.
Importantly, despite its restoration work, the original upholstery,
including the curtains, and safety belts are still present. In
addition to being fitted with its original engine, the camper still
retains its original child's hammock, tent, accessory table and
tent, as well as the original bunks.
Presently, the camper is showing 50,000 miles on its odometer, with
a true mileage of 150,000 miles from new, reflecting decades of
loving care and use as a cherished member of the family. Needless
to say, it has served its original owners well over the course of
the last forty-six years and is ready to be used and enjoyed with
its second owner.
