hubcaps The car has had a complete frame off restoration and has
slightly over 100 miles since completion We found this car in
Brownwood, Texas in October, 1990. Someone had painted it red and
put a used set of black interior in it. The air must not have
worked on it and they decided they didn't need to keep any of that
so they removed the evaporator core, ducting and anything else they
no longer needed. They put a plate on the firewall where the
evaporator was and sealed it off. A 350 Chevy small block was in
the car. We drove the car for several years in this condition as it
was mechanically sound - just not real pretty. It was a favorite
cruiser for our dog, Annie. The first time she rode in the back
seat with the top down she seemed surprised that she could turn all
the way around and see out in any direction. Surprisingly the
original papers were with the car and the Owner's Protection Plan
had been filled out when it was originally sold. It was sold new on
March 25, 1964 to V.I.P. Auto Leasing in Dallas, Texas. The selling
dealer was Doran Chevrolet which was then located at 2222 Main
Street in Dallas. The warranty was signed by Felix Doran, Jr. who
originally started Doran Chevrolet in 1946. When we decided to
restore the car we purchased another Chevelle to take all the a/c
components from as we needed the dash vents, evaporator box and
correct heater box to go back on this car. We bought a 1964 Impala
that had the correct 327/250 h.p. engine to rebuild for this car.
We kept pushing this car to the back of the garage as we bought,
built and sold other cars and didn't get serious about it until the
last few years and started to seriously put it back together
beginning in 2013. All original wiring was replaced with new
harnesses, gauges restored as needed, brakes rebuilt, suspension
rebuilt, new exhaust system, new a/c compressor and evaporator, new
heater core, all new belts and hoses, rebuilt steering box upgraded
to quick-ratio steering, all new interior (door panels, seat
covers, side trim, dash pad, sunvisors, carpet) and the list goes
on. Everything on the car is either new or rebuilt. Nothing was
left undone. The car has been repainted to the original paint code
color of silver blue with the original silver blue interior. New
aluminum trim and all new badge emblems. Interior is all new. The
console is rechromed. The first picture below was taken on the
car's first outing. The wire caps look really sharp. They were a
set of NOS wires we had on hand. Richard took all the spokes off
and polished them. The centers were repainted black and the spokes
reinstalled. Beautiful rare Super Sport convertible with air
conditioning. This car is new or restored top to bottom. We have
never seen another one even half as nice. Lots of original
literature and documentation to go with the car. Please Note The
