Created by industrial designer, Brook Stevens, who was responsible
for innovations spanning some 60 years! With his automobile passion
and career with Studebaker, he designed his own vehicle along with
his two sons in the early 1960's, and later established Excalibur
Automobile Corp located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These beautifully
crafted cars are completely factory built, never sold or produced
in "kit" form. Their bodies where made of hand-laid fiberglass that
was twice the thickness of a Corvette making them extra strong,
with aluminum hood panels. Using only new components, modern drive
train & chassis, and styling borrowed from the rare Mercedes SSK,
these cars were an instant success!
We are delighted to offer this gorgeous 1978 Excalibur Series III
Roadster finished in Gloss Black over Gray Leather interior with
black accent piping! These Series III examples are designed on top
of sporty chassis providing 4-wheel independent suspension and
4-wheel disc brakes. Power comes from its factory-appointed
Chevrolet 454ci High-Output V8 engine, Turbo-Hydramatic 400
automatic transmission, and 2.73 Posi-Traction rear end! The option
and feature list is quite long for this impressive car. They
include Mark IV style air conditioning, power steering, power
brakes, leather wrapped Moto-Lita steering wheel, heater & defrost,
full VDO instrumentation, reclining front seats, cruise control,
tilt/telescopic steering column, rear mounted trunk, dual side
mounts with hard covers, running boards, 15" chrome Borani wire
spoke wheels (6) wrapped in Michelin 1" white wall radial tires,
upgraded Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio, Plexiglas wind wings, fog lamps,
functional air horns, coco floor mats, and stainless steel
side-exit dual exhaust!

Hailing from it former Clute, Texas owner of the past 26 years, it
is remarkably well kept and shows only minor indications of being
driven at all! Complete with the original removable hard top with
soft cover, side curtains, and formal tonneau cover! All interior
features and gauges are working including the air conditioning!
This is 1 of 263 Excaliburs produced in 1978, and one of just 15
Roadsters! And as of 2007 became eligible for AACA 2nd generation
classification judging! This will be a very difficult car to
replace on our showroom as they just don't come to market very
