This 1966 Chevrolet El Camino is a stylish classic with plenty of
extra touches for flair. And that awesome-looking engine is also a
strong runner. It creates the kind of cool vintage machine that's
easy to enjoy everywhere.
This is a two-owner El Camino coming off of long-term ownership,
and you can really see it was cared for correctly. The
factory-correct Regal Red has the kind of gloss and shine that will
certainly get you nods at the stoplights. Even the truck bed looks
quite shiny and clean. So while the included bed cover protects it,
you probably will take it off just to show how straight and clean
it all is. The shining chrome bummers, complete trim, ribbed
rockers, and horizontal bar grille all add to this El Camino's
feeling of sophistication. There's a hint of SS style with the hood
and mag wheels with wide BF Goodrich T/As.
The interior continues this Chevy's well-done feeling. The front
seats are upgraded to buckets with integrated headrests and comfy
cloth inserts. There's also an upgraded center console, wood-like
trim on the dash, and a AM/FM digital tuner w/cassette that fits
cleanly in the classic radio slot. You'll also like the
driver-focused feel that comes from the wood-rimmed steering wheel,
Hurst floor shifter, and correct tach mounted next to the long
horizontal speedometer. Additionally, there were some recently
replaced items such as rubber seals on the doors, door panels,
carpet, headliner, and several other miscellaneous pieces.
The engine bay is a true showstopper with the slick black inner
fenders and firewall funneling all your attention to the shining V8
in the middle. It looks like they spent a small fortune on polished
components like the Chevrolet valve covers, air cleaner,
alternator, pulleys, steel braided line w/AN fittings, and more.
There was also an investment in substance behind the style. This
mildly modified 327 cubic-inch V8 inhales deeper with an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake. Plus, the long tube
Hooker headers not only add power, but also they help with the
sweet rumble of the dual exhaust. This a strong runner, and you get
to be in control of it all thanks to the three-speed manual
transmission.
Complete with maintenance records, this is a quality build of a
distinct and comfortable El Camino that knows how to turn heads.
