PRICE JUST REDUCED: 1969 Mustang 428 RCJ Mach 1—from Pony to Muscle Car
This restored 1969 Mustang Mach 1 R-Code has it all:
Great Looking, Two Owners
This Mach 1 takes you back to the Ford showrooms of the mid-60’s when you might, if you were lucky, get a glimpse of a new 428 Ram Air Cobra Jet before it was whisked away by a more fortunate customer. Originally purchased by the Benfields of West Virginia from Kirk Ford in Hancock, Maryland and then purchased by its current owner in 1973 after Mrs. Benfield concluded “it was just too fast”! Then in 2004, after 30 years of enjoyment, the current owner commissioned a rotisserie restoration to prepare the Mach 1 for its next 30+ years.
Paint and Chrome
Treated by its second owner to a rotisserie restoration in 2004 by T M Classics at which time this R-code Mach 1 was resprayed in its original Acapulco Blue (code 65) with black-out hood treatment. This car looks almost new with a high-quality finish along with its Shaker Hood air scoop.
Interior
The black Clarion Knit Vinyl upholstery with high-back bucket seats is in very good condition as is the balance of the interior.
Engine
The engine is the R-code 428 V-8 Ram Air Cobra Jet that starts right up and delivers an entire herd of ponies when you put your foot into it.
Transmission
The 4-speed manual transmission brings the power of the engine to the 3.91 rear. The power to the wheels is controlled by posi-traction.
Chassis
The underside of this Mach 1 is clean with only surface corrosion to remind one that this car has been enjoyed since its rotisserie restoration.
Safety and Comfort features
The car has power front disc brakes to bring it to a quick and straight stop. 3-point front seat belts provide for additional safety.
All of the safety and accessory features work—gauges, lights (other than back up), turn signals, wipers, horn, speedometer and tachometer—but the clock has been frozen in time.
The tires have most of their tread left and look great on the Mach 1 wheels.
An Excellent Example of THE American Muscle Car!
Nothing personifies the ‘60s more than the Mustang and of those Mustangs, the Mach 1’s Sportsroof (fastback) has become the preferred body-style. Finished in gleaming Acapulco Blue, our 1969 Ram Air Cobra Jet 428 Mach 1 looks like it can’t wait to get out on the road to show how these cars turned from Pony to Muscle cars. Nimble, quick and beautiful, this Mach 1 will get smiles and waves wherever it goes, whether to a show, a cruise-in or a trip to get ice cream. Come take a look and it will be in your garage before you can say “428 Cobra Jet”!
