1988 Pontiac Firebird
One owner, 38,000 mile Firebird.
Purchased brand, spankin new in 1988 from Voloshin Cadillac - Pontiac in Woodbridge CT, the owner was looking for a sporty weekend car. She walked on the lot and spotted this black on black Firebird and said I'll take it.
It is running the 2.8L LB8 V6 that creates roughly 135 HP and 165 lbft. That routes power to the 10 bolt GM rear via a 4 speed auto/overdrive transmission.
The car hadn't been driven an awful lot over the last few years so the recent work done to her is: new tires, new exhaust, new gas tank and fuel pump, fuel injectors, battery, new serpentine belt and tensioner and the AC was recharged and blows nice and cold.
With only 38,880 miles this car is near perfect. There a few small stone chips in the paint and those are really the only imperfections. The interior is in mint, nearly new condition, there isn't even wear on the pedals (unfortunately, the headliner is sagging but not enough to interfere with anyone in the car). The front and rear buckets are comfortable cloth, not vinyl or velour.
For a base model 6 cylinder, she was equipped rather nicely. Tilt wheel, power windows, power locks, AC, intermittent wipers, remote mirrors, full gauge package(!) that includes oil pressure, engine temp, volt meter and 8000 RPM tachometer, power brakes (discs in front, drums out back), power steering, rear defrost, power/auto close rear deck (works intermittently) and a rear wing.
The only mechanical issue is the flip up lights don't always flip up.
Despite being a V6, the engine pulls the car easily, feels good and sounds even better. With the overdrive auto transmission, the car will get great gas mileage.
Absolutely ready to get in and go and could probably even take a trophy at a local show.
Asking price for this time capsule Firebird is $7900. Great, inexpensive entry into the collectible car world.
