Hello Datsun Z car enthusiasts
I never thought the day would come I’d be putting my prized z car up for sale, but here we are. I mean it’s 2020, everything is up for grabs.
I’ve owned this 1980 280zx 5 speed for 7 years now and the passion, time and effort to make this car one of the best handling machines I could make, can now be yours.
To be clear, this car is by no means a show car, I always thought of it more of a Mad Max on rail, road carving machine- turning heads wherever I go. Everyone always comes up to me and compliments the car. People have a story to share about their old z car they used to own, or how they had one in high school, or how their uncle had one and how many fun memories they had driving in one.
Z cars are about passion. The people that love these cars have a passion and a connection to what the car represents. The history of Nissan and how the Z car changed sports car history bringing that experience to the masses. They also identify with a car philosophy, the simplicity of it, the pure sports and the thrill driving experience. The freedom the car gives you has you fly in and out of twisty roads or the adrenaline you feel as you floor it and feel the wind passing through your hair.
This is my 3rd Z car. My previous Z car was 1986 300zx which I owned for 11 years. This was a long time ago. None the less here we are selling my prized 280zx.
You are wondering why I don’t I just get to the point and give you the specs of the car. Well you’re right, but a little history helps put everything into perspective.
This car has been tuned and set up by legendary Z car Master, Rob at Z Car Garage in San Jose California. It has been featured on the Z Car Garage blog page in April 2015, which was a real honor. Another great honor was to have the 280zx worked on by the same hands that worked on the father of the Z car, Mr. K’s legendary yellow 240z. I took a picture next to this amazing car.
I am very sad to let this car go, but I know that I have reached the end of my tuning years. I need something newer, simpler, and honestly a sports car my wife will want to ride with me in. Don’t laugh but It’s true; it was just too racy for her. Just ask Jay Leno, wives love racy, noisy cars. None the less, once you test the car, plant your self in the leather seats and feel the grass roots racing experience of no digital assist of any kind, has you fly through the twisties, a smile will come to your face and you will fall in love with this machine.
This is a car for someone who loves old school sports car driving, with no assist, just you and the road. Take it out on the weekends and hit the back roads. Drive it hard or drive it easy, doesn’t matter because you are in full control. You will love the sound the exhaust makes, emanating from the MSA custom header passing through the z car garage exhaust sytem, and out the 2 ½ inch Flowmaster muffler. You will feel the suspension come to life on your first turn in as you put the fully adjustable Techno Toy Tuning custom suspension set up to the test. As you hit the acceleration the inline 6 gives you the thrill you’ve been waiting for thanks to the all new fuel injectors and an incredibly tuned head by Rebello Racing.
The interior has been completely Dynomated and redone in all black. All the door, floors, back and even the roof has been sound proofed. This gives the car a solid feel, maintaining road noise to a minimum and balancing it all so you can rock out to the incredible stereo system. The sound system in this car will blow you away. Sony head unit plus 9 speaker system with 10 inch subwoofer and JL audio amplification. The 6.5 inch Morel Victus Nano front speakers and separate tweeters are only 1/2 inch thick and custom fitted at the doors where no speaker was meant to go. Behind the custom mounted S2000 leather seats are another set of Alpine 6.5 in two ways speakers, and if that’s not enough, in the very back we have a custom built speaker enclosure that houses a pair of Kenwood 6x8’s. Oh and let’s not forget the 10 inch kicker subwoofer enclosure, boom! This sound system will delight your senses with an acoustical precision to match any musical style you want to rock out to, and just as you down shift, the engine revs meshes directly in perfect harmony with your musical choice- just has you exit the apex, you floor it once again and belt out the chorus to your favorite tune.
Come see the car. Drive it. Fall in love with it and take it home. I want this car to find an enthusiast who appreciates how much work it took to get this car to this level and is passionate about continuing the progress. You can turn this car into a 3.0L stroker, which was my plan all along. The engine is still very strong, so don't let the mileage scare you. The last mod this car received was an all-new braking system. Consisting of new calipers, rotors, pads, brake master cylinder, and new steel braided brake lines. Wow this Z can really stop on a dime.
