GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this stylish 1985 Mercury
Capri McLaren. This breathtaking example comes in its original red
paint paired with a tan interior and tan top. Powering this
beautiful drop-top Capri is a 5.0 V8 engine mated with an AOD
automatic transmission. This low-mile classic was always regularly
maintained and just had some large items replaced: such as new
wheels, tires, shocks, struts, and a new dual exhaust system. The
front brakes have been upgraded to a disc system and the original
4-lug setup was swapped out for a 5-lug system (all org parts
available). This Capri is a true match of American muscle and
luxury convertible. For more information please contact us
today.
In the 1980s, if you wanted a Mustang with a bit more luxury, you
went and bought a Mercury Capri. If you wanted more performance
and/or the roof chopped off your Capri, you went to ASC/McLaren.
You can imagine that not many people took this route. The Mercury
Capri ASC/McLaren is a truly obscure 1980s performance car. Unless
you have personal experience with one, you probably forgot about
it, or never knew it existed in the first place. According to
Hemmings, just 874 of these cars were built before the Capri was
dropped for 1987.
