The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible is arguably the most iconic
classic American car. It's truly apple pie pride on wheels. There's
a magnetism from this patriotism that make everyone needs to check
these out at car shows, or give a polite honk when one of the few
passes by. It only gets better when you see such a clean and
complete V8 drop-top idol.
This '57 Chevy was completed in Matador Red, and so it's hard not
to fall in love instantly. After all, we couldn't have given this
more of a classic American appearance unless there was a Babe Ruth
baseball in between the jet-inspired trim on the hood. This was a
pivotal year for the Tri-Five design, and of course, we love these
for the unique brightwork. The full front end that combines the
bumper and grille; the gold trim that symbolizes V8 power; and the
full-length trim with bright fan-style insert to add extra emphasis
to the sharp tailfins. There was a restoration later in life, and
this has been treated with respect ever since. So the presentation
is straight, clean, and impressive. Nothing has been shaved or
removed, so this one feels genuine, right down to the fender skirts
and factory-style wheel covers. While we love these rare
convertibles for the top-down cruising, take a moment to appreciate
the full package. The white folding roof matches so nicely with the
iconic whitewall tires, that this Bel Air has a great profile on
any day - no matter if the sun is shining or not.
The top has a smooth power action, and all you have to do is flip a
switch to open this Bel Air up to the world. Inside, you'll find
one of the most striking factory color combinations. The
exterior-matching red vinyl is combined with silver on the seats,
door panels, and dashboard. It has an eye-catching uniform
appearance that makes you proud to show this convertible off to the
world. The stylized steering wheel, AM radio for display, plush
carpeting, red convertible boot cover, and button-top seatbacks are
all part of this detail-oriented appearance.
Under the hood is a year-correct 283 cubic-inch V8. This was the
largest of the new small blocks made available at the time, and it
really helped the '57 obtain its legendary status. With a history
this important, you'll love showing off this time capsule of an
engine bay. From the big black air grabber, to the stylized
Chevrolet script on the valve covers, this is an attention getter.
The Rochester four-barrel carburetor lets the V8 inhale deeply, and
the newer dual exhaust gives this a dignified V8 tone. This is the
kind of car that's built for showing off, and so you have good
driving features like power brakes and a Powerglide automatic
transmission.
You're looking at the ultimate droptop for many of us. So if you've
been looking for one of these icons, you already how rare it is to
find one this complete. Don't miss out, call today!!!
