I appreciate BIG Buicks. And I like them to be very original. This car was purchased new and owned until this month by the same man from Davenport, Iowa. A legitimate one owner car. It was bought at Schwind-Boeker Buick-GMC in the fall of 1975. The story has it that it was driven by John’s wife Helen. I would love to know what he drove!
The odometer reads 62,8xx miles. I am quite confident that is the actual mileage. The condition of the car certainly supports this claim. It is known that minimal mileage has been put on in the past ten years. It is evident that it was always garage kept. It certainly seems like it was given great care, right from the beginning.
This car was undercoated and rust-proofed when new. Door edge guards and heavy duty floor mats were installed. I see no sign of smoking, children or pets in this car. The rubber and vinyl show no sign of degradation.
The paint is original, other than the stone chips and other small areas that have been touched up. The vinyl top is original and nice, showing no signs of rust beneath it. The floors are perfect. There is no rust-through on this car. Even the plastic fillers by the tail lights are in good condition.
Like most Electra 225’s, this car is nicely equipped. It has power steering and brakes, 60/40 seat with the driver’s side being 6-way power, power windows and locks and tilt steering. The Cruise Control still works and the Air Conditioning has been converted to 134a Freon. It blows ice cold. In addition, you will find a remote outside mirror, power trunk release, AM/FM stereo, courtesy lamps and rear ashtrays with lighters. A CB radio has been installed.
This car was born Cotillion White with Dark Blue vinyl top. The interior is also Dark Blue. The upholstery is cloth. It has full wheel covers. The windows are made of Soft Ray tinted glass. This is a very stylish car and it was the last year for the Jumbo Buick. The hardtop sedan offers easy access and looks great with the windows down.
Would you believe this car is 19.5 feet in length and weighs 5000 lbs? The ride is phenomenal. You are rolling in style and luxury. Good radial tires and a tuned suspension enhance the ride.
It takes power to move such a machine. The 455 cubic inch engine is equipped with a four barrel carburetor. You have tons of torque to motivate your Buick. I doubt the economy will be great, but does it really matter?
The trunk is just as it came from the factory. The upholstery is in great condition and it covers a sound deadening material. The cardboard liners remain in great condition. The original jack and wrench are present. The spare is brand new and has never been on the car. The trunk lid has the CB antenna attached.
The interior is in great condition. The carpet is original and not worn. The headliner looks great. The seats are comfortable with perfect upholstery. All the chrome is brilliant. The faux wood grain is not faded.
The body and paint look great from ten feet. Upon close inspection you will realize that it is original. That means you will find dings, scratches, dents, chips and other imperfections. The originality far outweighs the flaws. This car is going to be your go to driver because you won’t be stressing about marring a trailer queen’s finish. As mentioned earlier, most of the chips and scratches were touched up. Even the chrome and trim looks nice for being original.
All features work properly. All gauges and lights are functioning and the stereo plays great. The A/C will freeze you out. I was very impressed that the Cruise Control works. The power windows and seat operate without hesitation. The power locks work from all switches. The clock isn’t working. There are two sets of keys.
This jumbo Buick Electra 225 is begging to be driven. Its original owners drove it very sparingly. I hope you are able to put some miles on it. It is just such a great car to drive and it would be a shame if it weren’t enjoyed.
