car should be. €"Main Street Magazine, August 2019 Classic Mustang
Magazine gave its rundown: 1969 was the year that Ford debuted the
Mach 1. It was named after a show car Ford displayed in 1966. The
Mustang Mach 1 was similar to a GT fastback but had different
stripes and came with a more upscale interior. Some of the features
included were a blacked-out hood treatment, reflective body side
tape stripes, chrome rocker panel molding, hood pins, a front
spoiler attached to the front roll pan, a nonfunctional hood scoop
with turn signal indicators on the back side, an engine designation
badge on the side and accent stripes around the upper portion of
the rear body panel. The Mach 1 also came with high-back bucket
seats. A spoiler and window louvers were an available option,
though they did not come standard. The '69 Mustang Mach 1 offered
here in yellow-over-black-vinyl upholstery features nearly every
option listed by Classic Mustang. Only the rear-window
louvers-which many drivers felt caused rearward vision issues-are
not present. The car is powered by the desirable and optional
365-horsepower, 351-cubic inch Windsor V8. This Mustang was
recently restored throughout to a very high level. Back in 1969,
dealer-showroom cars couldn't have looked much nicer. The condition
of the exterior of the car is simply outstanding. The
paintwork-including the matte black on the hood-probably exceeds
original factory standards. Body-panel fit is uniform throughout.
The large chin spoiler, chrome grille and body-side trim, chrome
bumpers, hood pins, hood scoop, emblems all appear factory-fresh.
Cabin glass as well as headlight and taillight lenses are clear,
un-faded, and free of cracks. The decals on the car's flanks and
rear trunk are exemplary in coloring and design, and they're
perfectly located. The styled-steel wheels are without flaws. The
Mustang's interior is similarly pristine. Black vinyl seat
upholstery is factory-spec and properly fitted, as is the
headliner. The flash of red on the high-back front bucket seats
adds a touch of visual drama. The twin-cowl padded dash in black is
free of wear, sun damage, or fading. Wood-grain trim on the dash,
console, and doors is also un-faded and free of wear marks. The
black steering wheel with its Mustang center emblem frames the
instrument cluster. Gauge lenses are clear with crisp markings and
correct colored needles. A Philco AM-FM stereo radio is mounted in
the center column, as are the heating and air-conditioning
controls. All switchgear, control knobs, and the large analog clock
facing the passenger are present and in good operating condition.
The console-mounted 4-speed transmission shifter with its Ford
Performance racing stripe shift knob makes a strong statement as to
the car's driver-orientation. There are no obvious modifications
from stock. Under the hood, the engine bay continues the
showroom-condition theme. The 351 Powered by Ford V8 is easily
identified by the forged valve covers bearing that information. All
components-including air conditioning components-are properly
mounted, with hoses and wiring routed as they should be. The entire
engine compartment is clean and properly detailed. In the same way,
the car's chassis shows no damage to the twin exhausts (with
crossover pipe) or the floor pans of the car. There are minor dents
on the oil pan of the original engine, still painted Ford-blue. The
