1992 Camaro B4C Special Service (Police) Package
History
This is a solid car that has nearly complete documentation. If you like third generation Camaros, this is one of the best. You are basically getting a 1992 Z28/1LE in RS clothing (which is nice if you don’t happen to like the high rise spoiler on the 1991-92 Z28). A B4C package was the only way to get a fuel injected (TPI) engine in a Rally Sport (RS) Camaro. This car is a big step above a regular RS Camaro. The goal was presumably to provide police officers with low profile (stealth) pursuit cars.
There were a total of 589 B4C Camaros made in 1992 and most of them were actually used in police duty which means they have high mileage, extra holes for mounting radios/lights, and lots of abuse. This particular car never saw service and was sold to Gates Chevrolet in South Bend, Indiana which was known for special ordering B4C and 1LE Camaros.
Mechanical
A local GM mechanic went through the car thoroughly and changed all fluids and fixed all leaks. The car has new sway bar links, shocks, and struts. The car starts, runs, and drives just as it should. The AC works great. Mechanically, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this car. All receipts for mechanical work are available.
Exterior/Body
The undercarriage is in excellent condition . It has been undercoated, but that was done in 1993 and the original receipt is available as documentation. The last two owners have not driven the car in snow or rain. So, it has been babied the last 20 years. The floor pans and pinch welds are solid and show no rust.
The paint is original. So, it has some normal chips and scratches that have been touched up. The paint is good (as you can see in the pictures); but, it’s not perfect and has what I would consider normal wear for 38,000 miles.
Interior
The interior is all original and in very good shape. The radio and cassette player work. The car has manual windows and manual locks which reduces weight and gives the car a nice old school feel.
To my knowledge, there is not another 3rd generation Camaro B4C currently for sale. And, if there is, it is not likely to be in this good of condition. These don’t come along all that often; so, this is chance to get one of the few that has fairly low miles and no actual police use. The car is fun to drive; I drive it every month (except in the winter) to keep everything working properly.
