Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1966 Ford F100 pickup,
finished in two-tone Rangoon Red and Wimbledon White. The current
owner purchased this truck in 1976 here in Atlanta - per the trim
tag it was initially destined for the Atlanta DSO from the factory,
so we believe it has always been in the Atlanta area. After
retiring it from regular use in the early 2000s, he undertook a
restoration to a nice standard (that has held up well). Body is
straight and solid both topside and underneath; paint retains a
nice shine and the bumpers, trim and glass are good with only light
patina. Interior presents nicely with seat upholstery, headliner
and carpet all in good condition. Gauges and lights are all
working; original AM radio is for appearance only. So many of these
pickup trucks, especially the long beds, were used (and used hard)
as work trucks and they have the battle scars to prove it. We
believe the bed, floors and body panels to be original on this one,
a testament to an easy life.
The original 352 cubic inch V8 was swapped for a 390 some years ago
(the FE engines are easily interchanged); fed by a two-barrel
Autolite carb, it starts easily and runs very smoothly. All
mechanical systems where overhauled during the restoration and this
truck feels unusually tight and put together. Three-speed
column-shift manual transmission feels good with no excessive slop
in the shift linkage; clutch exhibits no grabbing or slipping. The
truck stops straight, and both braking and steering systems perform
just as they should. We drove it on the highway to our shop from
our client's home about 20 miles east of Atlanta and found it to be
smooth and rattle-free.
This is a great looking classic pickup that runs and drives well,
with the added bonus of long-term ownership history. Sold on its
1976 Georgia title. For more information about this 1966 Ford F100
