For Sale: 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 in Niantic, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Sportroof

This Galaxie started life in the Norfolk, VA plant and was delivered to Richmond, VA. It was equipped with a vinyl bench seat, 352 4bbl V8, a Borg Warner T-10, 4 speed transmission, 9" rear and was painted in Ravens Black. It stayed in VA through the 90's when it is believed to been purchased by someone in Waterford, CT. The Waterford owner replaced the aging black vinyl with a similar pattern cloth interior and welded in patch panels on both front floor pans. He also installed the side exit dual exhaust, Holley 4 bbl carb., the under dash gauges, the Thunderbolt hood bubble and the 390 badges on the fenders. It then sat parked for at least ten years when the third owner found her. He dragged her home, got the car running (the engine came out and work was done but the family isn't sure what was done) and started a rolling restoration. That was roughly 3-4 years ago. In that time he installed new brake lines, new shocks, traction bars, aluminum radiator, new gas tank and American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels/BFG tires in a 275/60R15 in the rear and 225/70R15 in front combination and had the car stripped and painted in the original Ravens Black. He sourced a bunch of parts for her too such as new ball joints and rod ends, new front springs, bucket seats, grills, some trim pieces and a center console, all of which come with the car but were not yet installed.

The outside of the car looks beautiful and sinister at the same time, exuding pure muscle with the slight rake, wide tires in back and smaller tires in front, Thunderbolt hood bulge, mag wheels and side exhaust. The sound of the 352 backs up that appearance. The interior is/was a work in progress and wear on the dash, carpet and door cards can be seen along with corrosion on many of the trim pieces, door and window handles, etc. The car shows 106,000 miles so this is not an odd occurrence.

The car starts and runs strong and drives easily despite no power steering or power brakes. The 4 drums stop the car rather well.

Unfortunately, several months ago the owner passed away and now his wife is in the process of selling some of his cars.

This car can be enjoyed as is, the four speed shifts well and the car has some torque behind it (close to 300HP and 352 lbft) so she'll put you back and accelerate nicely. If you'd like to move her up the quality scale a bit, she is a solid foundation to start with.

Asking price is $15,500
