Vehicle Description
1970 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
It's no secret that Chevrolet builds some of the most celebrated
trucks on the planet. From the AK era forward, every generation has
found a solid following and, eventually, firm footing in the
collector car world. Over the past few years, we've featured plenty
of vintage, ground-pounding bowties, and this righteous one is just
the latest in a series of sweet C/K head turners.
For consignment a wonderful example of the C-10 pickup truck from
1970 and Chevrolet. Bathed in baby blue, and some wide whites
wrapping gleaming chromed wheels with knockoff spinners, black
rockers, body matching grille in the slightly modified style, and a
tonneau covered bed, she's a baby blue beauty with white patent
leather shoes, which creates quite the sophisticated look.
Exterior
With some newly replaced repro fenders, doors, cab corners,
rockers, tailgate and radiator support, all that problematic
rusting has been remediated. Sanded to straight lines and mounted
on with gap minding precision, then all bathed on baby blue. With a
twist I might add as those new rockers were painted in black, the
rear bumper was shaved, and a white and black pinstripe was
carefully appointed on about 2 inches above the black rockers, and
it curves with all the lines of this truck on either side. Also, a
trim piece was thrown on just above the black rocker for some extra
bling. Now it has the look like none other, all the while retaining
its original form it was born with in 1970. Speaking of black, all
window surrounds and side and rear glass has been tinted. as well
as a nice tight bed cover in black vinyl protecting whatever you
decide to store and haul underneath it from the elements. In the
bed there is a sprayed trunk liner painted on the sides, and a
rubber protective padded mat on the floor. The spare now resides
under here with the jack and lug wrench neatly tucked under the
interior structure of the tonneau cover above and out of the way.
Wide whitewall tires wrap shiny wheels and spinner knockoffs on all
4 corners which add to the overall subtle but effective look.
Interior
A swing of the doors and panels have been painted with more trunk
liner paint with black background and some mixed in speckles, and a
body matching metal surround. The original bench has been pulled,
and a newer bench in a zig zag broadcloth light and dark gray plays
with gray solid bolsters on the edges and tops of the bench. Also
built in headrests give the bench an overall clean simple look,
much like the exterior. In the center, is a molded console which
sits on the bench and offers up storage cub holding and speakers on
either side. The original 1970 C10 dash is a mixture of body
matching baby blue background and more speckle paint for the
instrument cluster and glovebox door and surround in front of the
passenger. Some has also been utilized for the temp sliders and a
radio delete panel, which just above an aftermarket Sony digital
AM/FM/CD/MP3 player has been neatly mounted within the central
portion of the dash. Fronting the dash is a nice new rally steering
wheel. Above we can note a shiny baby blue headliner of painted
ribbed metal. Clean black carpet floods the floors and adds a nice
grounding to the molded foam seats.
Drivetrain
Under the hood within the beautifully and perfectly restored engine
bay all shiny and black, is a 350ci V8 with a carefully painted
block and intake in bowtie orange, and it has some chromed bling
added to it with valve covers, and a chromed air cleaner housing. A
single 4-barrel carburetor is atop, and a TH350 3-speed automatic
is on back with a 12-bolt rear. Nice shiny supple hoses and
electric blue spark plug wires add to the eye candy.
Undercarriage
Putting this truck up on the lift yields an undercarriage just as
impressive as the topside. No rust, appearing to have been blasted,
the neatly painted in black light texture paint. Just beautifully
performed and showing like new independent coil spring suspension
upfront, and swing arm, coil spring suspension on back. Dual
exhaust with Turbo mufflers are now on, and drum brakes are all
around, with the front drums looking like new. Undersides of
rockers are also showroom, as are the underside of the doors that
interlock with the thresholds.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, exceptionally smooth runner and good power, with
bias free panic stopping, solid handling, and a great cruise speed
ride. All quiet on the western front during the test period, and
all working functions left this writer very impressed.
An original but very unique truck with the redux, color choice,
wheels, bed, interior, well you get the picture! A true one of a
kind yet looking just as the rest did in 1970. Very good!
