1971 AMC JAVELIN SST C-809 This 1971 AMC Javelin SST is a
second-generation example that we acquired in June of 2020. The
previous owner of this vehicle reportedly purchased it from the
daughter of its original owner. The car is finished in white with
black vinyl roof inserts over a blue interior, and power is from a
304ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional
equipment includes power steering, a front sway bar, and an
AM/FM/cassette stereo. A carburetor rebuild and oil change have
been carried out along with installation of an aluminum radiator,
fresh brakes, and a new battery. This Javelin SST is offered with
recent records and a clean California title. The body was
refinished in its original Snow White in the mid-2000s following
repair of a dent in the driver-side quarter panel. Exterior
features include a twin canopy-style roof with black vinyl inserts,
a roof lip spoiler, dual black side stripes, and SST badging.
Factory 14 inch steel wheels are fitted with full covers and KM
Radial 40 whitewall tires. The previous owner stated that the brake
shoes, master cylinder, horn, and emergency brake cable have been
replaced. The interior features high-back front bucket seats
upholstered in pleated blue vinyl with matching door panels and
carpets, while the instrument panel and door inserts are trimmed
with woodgrain appliques. A Sparkomatic AM/FM/cassette stereo
occupies the factory radio position. A factory deep-dish steering
wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a combination fuel
level/coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows
approximately 1,600 miles but most likely has exceeded the
mechanical limits of the odometer. The tall-deck 304ci V8 is
equipped with a two-barrel carburetor with an electric choke and
was rated at 210 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque when new. Power
is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted Borg-Warner
three-speed automatic transmission. ***If you are viewing this on
