Vehicle Description
In 1933 the Model B Ford produced 75 bhp with a 221 cubic inch
Flathead V8 engine. The Flathead motor was mated to a three-speed
manual transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with
semi-elliptic leaf spring, four-wheel mechanical brakes with a 112"
wheelbase.
This 1933 Ford Model 40 Station Wagon was part of the Nick
Alexander Woodie Collection. Origins of this Woodie go back to the
early 70's when it was acquired by Bob Slack, a well know Ford
collector who was famous for acquiring well maintained unrestored
1932-1934 Fords. When Bob Slacks collection was auctioned in 1999
it was then acquired by Nick Alexander. "Given its original paint,
wood and upholstery, the decision to restore this car was quite
difficult and Nick took almost two years before finally deciding to
commence restoration."
According to documentation the wood is all original with only
modest effort to return it to near showroom condition which would
explain the excellent door alignment over all this time. During the
restoration new authentic brown paint was provided for the hood and
cowl area while the fenders were finished in gloss black. The seats
are upholstered in black-brown artificial leather with coordinating
correct brown rubber mats front and rear.
The roof is covered in artificial brown leather and canvas side
curtains are provided for the side and rear openings. The bright
work has a brilliant shine which is offset by the black spoked
wheels that are wrapped in Firestone black wall tires.
The Nick Alexander Collection was known for exceptional vehicles
and this 1933 Woodie is no exception. This Woodie was the recipient
of the coveted Dearborn Award in 2003 scoring 990 points after
being driven to the event. Shortly after it was a participate in
the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.
The odometer of this beautiful vehicle is showing less than 4064
miles and has only been driven approximately 1464 miles since
2009.
If you are looking for a stellar example of a Ford Model 40 Station
Wagon this Woodie should not be overlooked.
