In memory of Bill Lee Lindsay (Born: October 31, 1945   Died: January 27, 2017)

This beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang V8 Coupe “Samantha” is a wonderful example of a first generation Mustang. The car was nick named “Samantha” by MS CLASSIC CARS owner Marc Schiliro because this is the first car his daughter Samantha learned how to drive. This car has been completely restored to show quality standards throughout. It was completed in 2017 and has 1,410 miles since completion. It’s been finished in its original color of Silver Smoke Gray with a Blue and White Pony interior. It’s equipped with Rally Pac, air conditioning and power steering. The car is powered by a 289 V8 engine and C-4 automatic transmission. This Pony is a very special car for so many reasons as listed below. Enjoy!

As the VIN number and trim tag indicate this car was built on April 26th, 1965 in Dearborn, Michigan with a Dallas, Texas (DSO). It was Silver Smoke Gray with a luxury Blue and White interior. It had a V8 289 CID 4V, C-4 Automatic with a 3.00:1 rear axle. The trim tag is a reproduction tag that was replaced because the original was beat up. From the information gathered the reproduction trim tag is a duplicate of the original. The original VIN stamp is still located on the driver’s side inner fender. Two Kansas Highway Patrol VIN verification reports from 1992 and 2007 are included with the sale. This car was purchased by Bill Lee Lindsay from Wichita, Kansas as a restoration project. Bill was a hard working blue collar guy who wanted to bring this car back to its glory but needed to do it as he could afford to. He worked as an electrical drafter which included doing wiring for military projects. As the receipts indicate the restoration started in 1992. He connected with Kansas Klassics located in Wichita, Kansas. Kansas Klassics specialize in new and used Mustang parts, repairs and restorations. Bill wanted to restore the car as correctly as possible. The restoration went on for many years and came to a halt in or around 2008 because Bill had gotten sick and retired. During the time frame after retirement he couldn’t focus on the restoration. Unfortunately Bill passed on January 27th, 2017. After his passing, his wife Wilgean D. Lindsay decided to complete the restoration. As the receipts document she sent the car back to Kansas Klassics in April of 2017. It was finally completed in July of 2017. She drove the car a total of 1,020 miles mostly to car shows. She won some first and second place awards at car shows which are not included. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car from Wilgean in December of 2019. MS CLASSIC CARS serviced and detailed the car shortly after the acquisition. Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS decided to bring the car home to enjoy for a while. Marc’s first classic car was a 1965 Ford Mustang V8 Coupe so he has a soft spot for this car. Marc also made the decision to teach his daughter how to drive on this car. Over the course of the spring and summer in 2020 Marc and his family created many memories with this car. On the weekend of September 5th, Marc and Samantha drove in the car back to the dealership so it could be listed for sale. Now you can better understand why this Pony is a very special car.

The exterior of this car presents itself beautifully. The first generation Mustang design is timeless and well recognized around the world. From the information gathered most of the sheet metal was replaced during the restoration. A great deal of time was spent aligning all the sheet metal properly. It has excellent body gaps throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very well. The car was finished in its original color of Silver Smoke Gray which is a rare color. This color has multiple different shades depending on the light that include sliver, gray and blue. The paint is show quality and has been detailed to a brilliant shine. A black pin stripe was applied which adds character. All of the glass is original Ford Car Lite and in very nice condition. All of the stainless glass trim is original and has been restored. Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced such as the wipers, grille, front bumper, headlight bezels, headlights, emblems, antenna, drivers mirror, door handles, lower molding, gas cap, tail light bezels, lenses and rear bumper. The car sits on steel wheels with the correct spinner hubcaps. The wheels are wrapped with B.F. Goodrich Silverstone 6.95-14 double redline 4-ply tires that were replaced in 2017.

The interior of this car also presents beautifully. It sports the original blue and white color which complements the exterior color perfectly. The Pony interior definitely adds character. The headliner, sun visors, dash pad, door panels, rear panels, carpeting and floor mats are blue. The dash fascia, steering column, center of door panels and center of seats are white. The gauge bezel and glove box are simulated wood. Everything in the interior has been restored or replaced such as the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash, dash hardware, gauges, AM-radio, Rally Pac, wood steering wheel, shifter, door sills, door panels, door hardware, seats, front seat belts, carpeting and floor mats. The car is equipped with factory air conditioning that was converted to R134. The air conditioning works great and blows cold. The car is also equipped with power steering that was installed by MS CLASSIC CARS. The power steering also works great. Everything in the interior is in working order with exception of the Rally Pac clock and AM-radio. The trunk compartment was nicely restored. It has the factory jack instructions sticker on the back side of the trunk lid. It also has the factory style trunk mat and full size spare tire with jack tools.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was finished in the correct shade of black. The car is powered by a 289 V8 (A-code) engine that was completely gone through. The engine runs and performs great. The engine is dressed with aluminum Cobra valve covers and air cleaner which look great. MS CLASSIC CARS added a brand new Holley Quick Fuel Carburetor for reliability. The factory air conditioning system is correct. It has Ford stamped hoses and an Autolite battery topper. It also has a battery power cut off knob for storage. The engine is cooled by a factory style radiator with no overheating issues. The engine breathes through factory exhaust manifolds and a Hi-Po dual exhaust system that sounds awesome. The engine is coupled to a C-4 Automatic transmission that shifts very smoothly. The transmission was rebuilt by Certified Specialists in Wichita, Kansas. The power is transferred to the pavement through the Ford 8” POSI rear end. MS CLASSIC CARS rebuilt the rear end and added the POSI unit for extra traction. This car definitely has some get up and go!

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. This undercarriage is nice enough to display with mirrors at a car show. The underside was painted the correct red oxide which looks great. Everything underneath has been restored or replaced such as the fuel tank, steering components, suspension components and braking system.

First generation Mustang V8 Coupes are becoming harder and harder to find especially in the condition of this car. This is a very special car that the new owner will be proud to call their own. A new binder with receipts of the restoration are included with the sale.
